My grandparents did. But now "remember" is more widely used.
I find regional uses of language interesting. And generational too.

“Recall” may be a word that has two different definitions. If I recall correctly. :)

Recall, recollect, remember, all can be used interchangeably and are definitely preferred differently regionally.
The Story of English is a wonderful read about US regionalisms and accents.
How many different words are there for submarine sandwich, grinder, hogie, etc are there?
