Sailing class, even on a lake, could be useful. If you can sail a small boat, you can sail a big one. The skills scale up nicely. Marinas are full of cheap boats that need a little work, but are “liveaboard-ready” immediately. Just a thought...of course, you are not close to salt water. But that is how my mind thinks.

I like the concept of at least taking a sailing class. I'm not that far from Lake Lanier.
