Wow, look at those enthusiastic faces surrounding Romney!
Now that the race [is] a two-person contest, Mr. Romney ought to be able to bring more small donors in, said Michael J. Malbin, executive director of the Campaign Finance Institute (CFI), a Washington-based think tank. But to do so, some things will have to change. He will have to gain more passionate support or more committed support as opposed to respect. He will have to make a real effort to find these people and go after them. This campaign at several points has said that it was doing so, but we do not see much evidence of that.
Even if Mr. Romney goes after smaller fish, its not clear the GOP rank and file are eager to hop into the presumptive nominees net.
Not unless Im struck by a lightning bolt from on high, said Emma P. Routh from Franklinville, N.C., who fired off a $100 check to Mr. Santorum in March, weeks before the former senator from Pennsylvania dropped out of the race. She said it might take divine intervention to get her to send a similar check to Mr. Romney.

well said.
You are so very welcome. And, a good day to you as well.
Not one dime from me. Romney’s team is smoking crack if they think conservatives, even the variety who are puking and pulling the lever for him, are going to fund him or work for him.
I have donated this season to Perry, Gingrich, Santorum, and now Goode. I intend to support a conservative. Period.

I would bet that if hed waited to announce until AFTER Sarah Palin announced that shed declined to run, half of the most vociferous critics of Perry would be supporting him The other half are wolfs in sheeps clothing shilling for Romney or theyre Ron Paul true believers.

same here! Mitt can do the country a service by reminding voters who Newt really is. Then he can go sit down and shut up.

I HATE these smug sanctimonious so-called Christian bigots who spew this kind of vomit! There are about 150 good, solid and responsible reasons not to vote for Romney and even more reason not to vote for huntsman. To go the bigoted route is despicable. Im ashamed that these people call themselves conservative!

I still stand by those posts. I still hate the idea that Romney will be my party's candidate and that if I want obama out of the WH...and I wholeheartedly do!...then I see no realistic alternative to voting for Romney.
I'm a three time loser in my choice of candidates. I was very pro-Cain until he came up with that ridiculous 9-9-9 slogan disguised as a tax plan. Then I supported Perry...to no good end and finally Santorum. Maybe I should just throw my jinxy mojo behind obama and see what happens.
My point: I’m trying to win you back. :>)
The underscored point you made put it best: There are 150 reasons not to support Romney. You wish he’d just shut up, that Romney-bots are disgusting, and elsewhere that Romney is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Remembering you from the Perry, Cain, and Santorum threads, I’d like you to simply check out the conservative credentials of Goode.
Take a look at 2004. We had a Republican Congress and a Republican President and the Congress was absolutely an embarrassment to conservatives.
The result was a loss of control of Congress in 2006 and a loss of control of the White House in 2008.
With Romney as President, many (if not most) Republicans in the Senate and House will be able to give up their pretense of opposing big government, big spending and big programs.
The ABO's here are going to be shocked and dismayed.
Exactly, Romney will complete the Socialists’ takeover of both major political parties.
The only problem with your analysis is that the GOP has done quite a bit of its own new costly and irreversible entitlement programs.

And it will continue to do so. Nixon came up with the new Hispanic protected minority category that entrenched racial preferences for millions of people. Reagan came up with the amnesty program that legalized millions of Democrats, and is responsible for turning California deep blue (and Texas a little further down the road) and other states near Mexico a distinct purple*. Bush I raised taxes so Clinton could take credit for reducing them. Bush II came up with No Child Left Behind and Medicare Part D. And yet any of these Republicans would have been superior to any of the Democratic alternatives.
* I'd argue Reagan was probably the worst of them all, in terms of destroying GOP majorities - his importation of tens of millions of illegals created irreversible (and adverse to the GOP) demographic facts on the ground. We are very fortunate that the GOP grassroots were able to prevent Bush II from enacting his immigration reform, but I think it's undeniable that either Gore or Kerry would have been worse than Bush II.
West is first and foremost a Patriot, and I think he’ll do whatever he can for America.
Point taken. I believe you are right about West.
What you said SoConPubbie. I agree.
thanks for that link...a wonderful discussion..and a true measure of the problem We the People have allowed to fester in DC....
