You keep touting your “two degrees” as if that should give you some “entitlement” of your own.
I and many others like me have worked all our adult lives, forced to pay into a system that we didn’t set up, now we are starting to get a small return. you also seem to think that we’ll get back more than we paid in. I should live so long.
Get a job, start paying in, then complain. I don’t even have to go to my mail box to get mine, it’s directly deposited into my bank account.
Hurry up and get that job, we greedy old codgers need more people paying in, lots of places will hire you in spite of your two degrees. Helpful hint, when you apply, don’t act as if you are the smartest person in the room because you have two degrees. That tends to turn off potential employers and the person who is contemplating hiring you may be a high school drop out.
No, I’m not a “high school drop out” and S.S. is not my only income, it’s my “mad money”, because it makes people like you mad.

(Romney vs. Obama? One of them has to lose, I'll rejoice in that fact, whichever it is.)

Yep - getting a job in a field where I PAID an inflated rate to go to a college (so a bunch of baby boomer professors could keep their bourgeoisie lifestyles even as they lecture me about the evils of such things) is such an unreasonable expectation. Yes I agree with you fully.

#1 - Yeah, it's a problem. Yeah, we boomers knew it was there. Yeah, we didn't do anything to fix it, but it's not our fault. That's a very typical boomer reaction.
Not wanting responsibilities towards anything is very trendy amongst boomers. Look at boomer divorce rates, abortion rates, day care rates, drug usage, extra martial affair rates, etc. The problem is mommy and daddy are now gone: who is going to take care of the boomers? Answer: the kids. We'll just send the bill to them. :)
#2 - Let's assume you get 2000 a month on SS. That is a measly amount. It's 24k a year. I think the poverty rate is 17-18k. Over 10 years, you'll take 240k out of the system. Did you pay 240k IN to the system? Probably not. Also note: Americans ARE living longer. Boomers are a big generation. SS is already redlining and most boomers haven't retired yet.
The system is GOING to crash. It's unsustainable.
Final Note: OWS ALSO argues that they paid into the system and they therefore deserve a cut. Their argument is just as legitimate as yours.

I DO have a job. I am one of the under-employed. It's not that there are no positions in the field in which I have a degree. It's that the boomers who run/operate these businesses won't hire me. It is QUITE frustrating.

If you're capable of thinking outside the box (though I wonder if you're capable of thinking at all) put yourself in my shoes for a minute. I'm looking around at boomers: they have nice houses, big cars and good lifestyles. And I'm being told that I will NEVER have any of those things because the government needs my money to pay to keep boomers in those lifestyles.
