Job news bad for Obama
Chicago Tribune ^ | 11:50 a.m. CDT, May 5, 2012 | Ira Kantor

25 percent drop in the number of jobs added nationwide from March to April could spell trouble for President Barack Obama's re-election hopes as the economy now struggles to recover at a slower-than-expected pace, local experts said yesterday.

"Somebody has to figure out how to get us to the point where we're creating 300,000 jobs a month. Obama policy is never going to accomplish it," David Tuerck, executive director of the Beacon Hill Institute at Suffolk University, told the Herald. "We have to look at what he's doing and pretty much reverse it all."

The economy added just 115,000 jobs in April, compared to 154,000 jobs in March and an average of 252,000 jobs per month from December through February, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Though the country's unemployment rate dipped to a three-year low of 8.1 percent last month, the number does not include discouraged people who have stopped searching for work.

A total of 12.5 million people nationwide were unemployed last month. Average hourly earnings rose a penny to $23.38.

Appearing on "Fox and Friends" yesterday, presidential contender Mitt Romney said April's collective added job number was 77 percent lower than his own expectations for economic growth.

"We should be seeing numbers in the 500,000 jobs created per month. This is way, way, way off from what should happen in a normal recovery," Romney said. "Clearly the American people are wondering why this recovery isn't happening faster, why it's taking years and years for the recovery to occur and we seem to be slowing down, not speeding up."

It's happening because of the knowledge of the 2nd term of 0bama around the corner for us Mr. Romney.

The problem with the recovery, is that there is no recovery, and Romney and too many in the country are believing it. When a country is getting a big net loss of jobs, and net tax revenue is going down, then, how can anybody in their right minds be talking about an ongoing recovery. This is a recession, and it’s been made worse and prolonged by the Obama policies.

The conversation needs to be changed to reflect the real truth about this economy, and recovery is very far from being a fact.

Now to get the second part right, the media needs to cull taxpayer funded jobs from the numbers. Democrats love to create jobs which are really just a stronger suck on the public teat.

Any bets on who the Tribune will endorse for President, regardless of the economic news?

LAME, LAME, LAME...

Hit 'em HARDER, Miff. We should NOT be seeing anything more than we are getting under the communist central planning policies of Obama. We are getting precisely what statism and central control ALWAYS get us. Tell us WHY we are seeing such piss-poor GDP growth and job growth. DON'T tell us we "should be seeing more growth" under these wretched loser policies.

He needs to get seriously conservative.

“”We should be seeing numbers in the 500,000 jobs created per month. This is way, way, way off from what should happen in a normal recovery,” Romney said.”

Would somebody wake up the RNC and Romney’s campaign staff, please! There is no “recovery” and has never been any indication of a “recovery”. The economy has shrunk, become “European-ized” with high systematic unemployment especially among the young, and is now settling into a new, lower level of health. Someone tell these so-called politicians that mere use of the word “recovery” is supportive of your opposition. Ban the word from your vocabulary! Never describe current economic conditions as anything better than adjusted, downsized, and settling in at a lower level. There is nothing remotely like a recovery in the US.
Also, beat a steady drum about the Dem party taking the path of Greece and that the Repub party is on the path of prosperity. If you can’t beat that drum, you are missing out on the greatest campaign gift of the 21st century, that is, Greece (and France seems determined to join ‘em).

The headline of this article is a classic case of reverse causality. It shouldn’t be “Job news bad for Obama” but “Obama bad for job news”. The reader would be much better informed by the latter title.

Don’t let your hate for Mitt make you automatically take everything he says the wrong way. The figures ought to be that good in a recovery, OF COURSE if it weren’t for Barack Obama flummoxing up the national confidence.

Well it IS both. He’s fowling up the economy through lefty policy, and the economy in turn reflects badly on him.

Obama’s Jobs Plan in action

Congress Revolts On Obama Plan That Would Ban ‘Buy American’

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/03/obama-trade-congress-buy-american_n_1475277.html

WASHINGTON — A group of 68 House Democrats and one Republican sent a letter to President Barack Obama on Thursday urging him to reconsider an element of the controversial free trade agreement currently being negotiated by the administration. If approved in its current form, the pact would effectively ban “Buy American” policies in government contracting.

On a purely personal note, I have to submit that, with Obama’s performance as it is, those who are still pro-Obama would stay with him if he turned out to be a communist sleeper agent, child-molesting, homosexual who favored euthanasia for anyone over sixty and had been proven to have handed nuclear secrets over to the North Koreans and the Chinese.

In other words, Blacks, homosexuals, socialists, communists, atheists, Latinos/as, illegals, weak-kneed Whites intent on proving to the world how “enlightened” they are, and everyone who wants to see the military reduced to a third-rate, PC force riddled with Obama supporters and careerist officers intent only on self-promotion.

Those numbers aren’t going to shift very much.

So much Kabuki theater.

Barack is trying to make it look like oh, these terribly low tax revenues (because the GOP won’t cooperate and goose up the tax rates) make it impossible to afford American.

I can see why even more Democrats are complaining than Republicans.

If the media told the truth, after impeachment, we would be in the second year of Joe Biden.

You’ve just defined the Marxist Do Loop!! They still think that the problem isn’t philosophical, but rather just poor execution. They just haven’t found the right person to manage the implementation!
