The Liberal Messiah knows that de facto Chief Justice Kennedy is likely to vote to strike down the mandate, so He is trying to intimidate him into changing his mind. Kennedy is squishy enough that this might work.

If there is one thing that judges, from municipal magistrates to SCOTUS justices, absolutely despise it is elected officials from legislative and executive branches *telling* them how to decide a case.
My observation of judges/justices/etc is that when someone does this, the black robe mafia dig in their heels and start seething when they write up the opinion(s).
If Obama had actually practice law instead of having been a poseur on the subject, he would know that this tactic has a high rate of backfiring - spectacularly.
