You know well what I posted on the Mich thread on this. I saw it happen to a personal friend of mine who is now the congressman for Mi 1.
Funny thing, not very many understand that when elected, you go to DC and they threaten you the very minute you get sworn in. Either you play the game, or you dont get shit. Its like the Amish shunning their own.
To break this, it must be treated like dealing with the mob. A national strike by the truckers would go a long way to put an end to this.

That's why I allow a little softness from freshmen. If the jello spine continues into a second term, they gotta go.
My congressman is a second time freshman because the party threw him overboard in 08 for opposing the party line on bank bailouts.

Then if you have any courage you fight. You fight and at least make your party leaders pay for their arrogance. And if things go right and you keep the fight up, the leadership will have to deal with a hostile freshman and sophomore class of representatives and senators on the next election.
