Virgil Goode Polling 5% in Virginia
Independent Political Report ^ | May 1st, 2012

Posted on 05/02/2012 9:47:32 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

Virgil Goode is a former Congressman from Virginia as well as the current Presidential nominee of the Constitution Party. He has lived in Virginia all his life and the family name “Goode” means something in the area due to he and his father’s political careers. Now Public Policy Polling has found that Goode scores 5% against Obama and Romney in Virginia, even when an “Other” option is included.

Another interesting angle in Virginia is the candidacy of former Congressman Virgil Goode as the Constitution Party candidate for President. We find him polling at 5% in a three way contest with Obama’s lead over Romney expanding to 12 points at 50-38. It seems unlikely Goode would ultimately get 5% but anything he gets could help flip the state to Obama given how small Romney’s margin for error there is. Goode gets 10% from those describing themselves as ‘very conservative,’ suggesting that Romney does still have some work to do with the far right.
As always, the disclaimer here is that polling numbers for third parties and independents tend to decline as we approach election day.

So what he’ll lose by 30-40% this time. Get serious!

And that would be progress! You underestimate Alan Keyes. He's a fighter. He is not going to suck up to the establishment. He's even been arrested standing up to the GOPe. So he lost by 43 points last time he faced off against Obama, you can't give up on his just because of that. It's true that he's lost every campaign he's ever run including 3 US Senate and 3 Presidential campaigns, but that's no reason to just assume he would lose again. Alan Keyes has as much chance to win as Virgil Goode or any other 3rd party or write-in candidate. Alan Keyes for President

I'm in with Keyes. Why go part wacko(Goode, Palin write in, blank) when you can go the full monty wacko with Keyes.

I'm not sure Alan would quite put it that way, but I'm confident he still appreciates your enthusiastic support. You're all in on the Alan Keyes for President (write-in) 2012 bandwagon and that's all that really counts!

The increasingly shrill screeching of you loyalists tells me that I’m on the right track.

Guess you better hope Romney pulls in a lot of new liberal voters.

Given the current state of Washington..

Is having their support a good or a bad thing?

That is why I like Goode.

We were discussing Virginia. The Mittbots screwed up when they sold out to Romney. We didn't get a chance to vote for any of our guys, and that was an early primary too.

First order of business in Virginia is to restructure the party by shedding ALL the Mittbots ~ which will include the Governor, the Lt. Governor, several top ranked pukes in the legislature AND maybe all the county chairmen ~ but I haven't gone into the detailed analysis to find all those who are deserving of elimination.

We can rename it something else and attract a fairly sizeable faction of the African-American wing of the Virginia Democrat party ~ led by Doug Wilder.

Our guys would probably caucus with remaining Republicans but they have to take a pledge first.

Once we get through the restructuring option then we move on to national politics. By then other states betrayed by the Mittbots should have brought about their own revolution ~ with a minimum of carnage of course.

In the end the Republican establishment will become a small faction out in the "fringe" where they belong.

If this is successful, the Democrats can do the same with the Socialists in their ranks ~ cast them into the "fringe" and out of our lives.

Wll check back with you in two years when zero has implemented all he intends to do. If FR hasn’t been outlawed, that is.

He’ll thank you for being pure.

I did what I could to choose a gop conservative, and having lost that battle, will help defeat zero at least.

The same could be said about Romney.

He’ll thank you for selling out.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Democrats fund this candidacy (whether or not his party realizes where the money is coming from)--it's in their interest to peel away votes from the Republican candidate.

Anyway, I don't know if people will vote for someone with a funny name like Virgil. Give us good ole American names like Barack or Willard.

I wasn't here when Fairfax County got a real Republican party, but I did eventually get to know Jack Harrity and Joe Alexander quite well. Both fine gentlemen.

They were good friends who decided it was time to reorganize the local Republicans into a REAL party and toss out the place holders who used party office as a resume enhancement. Jack got that job. Joe's job was to move the anti-black faction out of the local Democrat party and bring it into line with the present day constituency and the 20th century.

Both Joe and Jack were VERY CONSERVATIVE ~ no leftwinger or ku-kluxer could have pulled off what they did ~ the reorganization, modernization and revitalization of two moribund parties in what has now become America's wealthiest county!

So, pardon me guys if I sometimes point to little known principles when it comes to restructuring first, then winning elections ~ but I learned those principles from THE MASTERS.

Of late we'd even begun getting Virginia state highway money, and that's no small matter in Virginia, then the current Governor, who claimed to be a local guy, McDonnell, sold us down the river to the Mittbots and he's stolen the highway funds to give away to his friends in Southside.

It's almost like it was before Jack Harrity and Joe Alexander began reforming politics around here.

I messed up with my reply. I agree with you and think that a vote for Goode increases the likelihood that Obama wins Virginia and the election. I think that he is orders and orders of magnitude more dangerous to America and tye world than Mitt Romney ever could be. Obama is dismantling the nation and turning the world over to the Moslem Brotherhood. He is an anti-American Marxist and must be opposed by everyone who loves this nation. See my tagline.

Its not like Romney can win anyway so I might as well keep possession of my soul.

Not if we turn swing states over to him by supporting half wit third party stooges. Virgil Goode hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell of even being sent back to Congress anywhere in VA...and this run on the Constitution Party ticket is a pure waste of time. Unless your goal is obama's reelection. I'm no happier about a Romney candidacy than anyone else around here is...it really makes me furious. But I'll be damned and sent to hell if I'll stand by and let obama win re-election without a fight. And that means voting for Romney.

And please don't tell me there's no difference.between the two. That's the one of the most specious things I've seen on FR lately, and there's a lot to chose from.

But hey, Enjoy Obama. Cuz your guy Mitt can’t beat him.

And who cares who I vote for? I live in Minnesota for petes sake.

It’s the ONLY state that went for Mondale.

Goode voted for Dick Gephardt over Newt Gingrich for Speaker of the House twice. Can this guy really be trusted?
