In Florida, it's always safest to assume that ANY body of water larger than a swimming pool could house a gator. (g)

Seriously,with a good sized pond, like this water hazard, the rule of thumb is stay TWICE as far from the water's edge as the lenght of the biggest gator..i.e. 20ft..

The lake in my back yard is down from no rain, Gators are peering at me when i go fishing, I carry a 357 with me...oh yea they are there..
