Betty, unfortunately there are a lot of Christians out there who are more in fear of Obama than they are in fear of God. What if???
Do you not know that God already knows whether or not Obama is going to be re-elected? Do you not know that God ultimately makes his choice for who our leader is going to be either as a punishment for our sins, a reward for our faith or any other reason that God comes up with to make that determination on our behalf?
Unfortunately too many Christians are willing to compromise on principles out of fear. We will vote for evil because one evil is perceived in our mind as being more evil than another evil. We make that choice even when there is a solid choice for Good -- in this case "Goode".
Romney has a proven track record of being an evil politician on issues of life, family and just about every other social ill that God has expressed his hatred of (abortion, homosexuality, the redefinition of the family, forcing religious institutions to fund or provide contraceptives and abortion services) -- whatever the liberal position is, Romney has a track record of supporting it.
I believe that God gave us Obama as a test and possibly as a punishment for our faithlessness and our toleration of evil. Romney does not represent a deviation from that toleration and is as tolerant of evil as Obama.
So if you think your compromising vote for Romney in this election will help to save America, then I fear for America. As Christians we need to stand up to the forces of evil in the world not to compromise for the lesser of two evils. We will never change as a nation until we collectively repent of our sins and turn our face to God. Romney believes he will someday be a God. That is his primary purpose in being a Temple worthy Mormon. Is that the God you intend to turn your face towards? Is that the God in whom you will put your faith and trust?
Yes, God knows at-once all things of all times from His standpoint in the Eternal Now. No mere sparrow at any time falls without Him already knowing of it....
But we humans don't know all things, simultaneously, as He does. We are mortal and timebound in a way He never is. We have to learn by trial and error, from experience of and in the world He created and then commended to our faithful stewardship, in and through the great sinner Adam.
Forgive me for saying so, dear P-Marlowe, but it is my belief that God does not judge and punish us NOW, in "this" world. Punishment for our sins according to our just desserts is imposed on us on Judgment Day, when Christ comes again, this next time brandishing a bloody sword not before.
The sword, of course, is His Eternal Truth which cannot ever be evaded by God's beloved creature, Man.
Or maybe you think my prayerful interpretation of the Apocalypse of St. John a/k/a the Book of Revelation is faulty. (I do the best I can.)
In between now and then, He intends that we be His collaborators in His creational work, to seek His Good and do what we humbly can do to implement it in this world, His Creation. Which will not be "complete" until He ends this order of the World, and establishes His Kingdom in and of Christ Jesus, Logos Alpha to Omega, the Son of God.
He leaves us in perfect liberty to love and serve Him, or to reject Him.
Meanwhile, we do not know what God knows, nor can we. All we can do is try to live in His Light, and serve Him.
If we already knew what God knows, then we couldn't be "free." And our Good Lord definitely made us to be free men, to accept or reject Him.
I freely love and accept Him and His plan for me which is why I am "doing battle" with Obama.
Do you find my "theology" here to be entirely beyond the pale of your doctrine? My basic point is: Obama and his ilk have already rejected Him.
The rest of us flawed mortals should NOT make the same mistake. Especially if we call ourselves "Christians."
FWIW.
