A baby boy has died after he was attacked by his familys mastiff dog during his first birthday party.
A day after turning one, Jeremiah Eshew-Shahan was at his grandmothers house in Las Vegas when he crawled over to the dog a mastiff-rhodesian mix weighing about 120 pounds and started to pet him. The dog then attacked the baby, sinking his teeth into Jeremiahs head and shaking him...

Sure thing...I have so many dog health bookmarks it’s unreal.
LOL
You’re told humans are 5,000 times more dangerous than dogs, and ya cry and whine about being insulted becasue ya can’t handle the damn truth. Too bad.
Oh, I’d bet easy money on Dragnet.
He’s one of the rare posters I think *isn’t* a ‘keyboard kowboy’.
—Has the vet cultured ear scrapings for yeast or bacteria?
*yes, but it’s been so long I don’t remember the answer.... think he said yeast, but DUD say it was likely an allergy.
—Has his thyroid been checked?
[do that -first- if you have not already!]
*no, it’s never been suggested. I’ll check into it.. he has an appointment for next Saturday.
—Did he mention systemic allergies?
*It was a long time ago, but allergies were mentioned.
—You could try 25 mg of Benadryl and see if that stops the itching.
* I give him Benadryl from time to time and it DOES help.
—Do his ears stink and if so, what do they smell like?
*They do if we don’t wash his ears... we wash them often. Smells like a sweet puke from a drunk wine drinker. LOL
This has gone on for so damn long that I am surprised that he can hear ANYTHING.
I probably should have done this a long time ago, but I may very well take him to some expensive vet in Seattle (I hate going to Seattle) and just throw a bunch of money at this problem.
I don’t think I will ever again buy a dog known for chronic ear infections.
Falco is a wonderful dog, but I don’t want to do this again.
Of course YOU haven’t seen it. I bet you haven’t seen the 7 million people who were killed or deformed by Chernobyl either, but it happened to THEM. It is the height of ignorance to make a statement about one’s own limited experiences as a dismissive of fact.
You really are a complete ignoranus.
“Smells like a sweet puke from a drunk wine drinker. “
YEAST!
You do *not* need to throw a bunch of money at this.
Have a thyroid test done.
Make -sure- it tests for T4/free T4 and T3/freeT3 levels.
Anything less will not give you accurate results.
He ~may~ have a systemic yeast infection so discuss that with the vet but I’m betting on hypothyroid because low thyroid predisposes dogs to yeast infections *and* “pseudo-allergies”!
Give me a minute to upload a file and I will send you a link about hypothyroidism.
That is an amazing coincidence.......
I bought my first Dobermann right after seeing that movie when it first came out. I named him Caesar. LOL
“Lots of abuse survivors turn to drugs, booze or suicide to cope.” There are all too many that do just that....
Looking for some peace on a doggie thread and just find infighting here also.
I’m so tirrrrred of it all.
Is anybody else.
Wow...that is weird.
Yes they do.
We need to get them some dogs, instead.
:)
[and go check your FReepmail...a huge PDF book awaits you]
“Make -sure- it tests for T4/free T4 and T3/freeT3 levels.”
Will do.... Hope there is a reasonable treatment or cure.
That I agree with...the humans deserve the punishment, not the animals. People go into the woods hiking, get attacked by a bear defending her cubs, and the bear gets whacked???
Thanks... I’ll check it out.
Hope it helps!
I do not want to see people walking their pits or their rotties thru a residential area...especially AFTER a neighbor has been attacked. (She was very foolish...she did NOT report it to the police, putting others at risk.)
People walk labs and such around town...I don't worry about them.
There are a LOT of stupid people inhabiting this planet.
Life isn’t a Disney movie.
Too many of them wind up owning pits and rotties...keep them home away from our children.
I’ve seen morons turn Labs and Collies into psychos.
It’s not just ‘some breeds’.
You can turn any dog into a lunatic if you’re stupid enough.
Hope so... it’s going to take me quite a bit of time ton read and digest it.
I did look it up on the net and my blood is boiling that my vet has never talked about this being a common problem for my breed. After I verbally dress him and her down, I’ll likely fire them and use a different vet.
Anyway... thanks again for the reading assignment.
I've seen people turn Siamese cats into psychos...look at the reputation they have now.
The pit bull owner in our hood IS a moron...he whips the animal across the head with the leash whenever it doesn't 'toe the line'. I'm not sure why he is beating on the animal, but that is precisely WHY everyone is nervous. That dog is going to snap; sooner or later.
