Obama: 'I was born in Hawaii,' wink, wink (taunts Trump, complements press on digging up truth)

Barack Obama opened last night’s White House Correspondents Dinner – an annual chuckle-fest with D.C. reporters and pop culture celebrities – with a pair of jokes and a wink about his supposed Hawaii birthplace.

He began with more veiled joke alluding to April 28 of last year, when the White House released to the press a copy of his purported long-form birth certificate, a move prompted in part by calls from Donald Trump to see evidence of Obama’s eligibility to be president.

“My fellow Americans, we gather during a historic anniversary,” Obama said. “Last year at this time, in fact on this very weekend, we finally delivered justice to one of the world’s most notorious individuals.”

Video screens in the room then flashed a photo of Trump.

Obama then explained he was advised to “reintroduce himself” to America.

“My name is Barack Obama. My mother was born in Kansas. My father was born in Kenya. And I was born, of course,” the sitting president said with a mischievous, knowing wink, “in Hawaii.”

Abercrombie is a character of some sort. But he was actually serious about finding that orginal BC to help Obama out, to end all the sniping at Barry. But that story died and the ridiculous nature of it is never remarked upon. I’ve often wondered what sort of message went from the WH to Abercrombie to shut him up?

I don't know whether he could prove what he needs to prove or not. About the only thing that could prove it would be an original Hawaii birth certificate from 1961, examined by several real document experts and put online for all to see and assess.

I used to post the Hawaii department website where people could obtain certified copies of their original BC for $10.00. But Barry sure never took that route and all the dissembling since has created a situation where many will be very difficult to convince. And I'm not waiting for any true original to emerge from the Hawaii state records.

The real story here is how gosh-awful unfunny he was (and how his fans assume that he "killed" his audience with laughs), or how his "humor" is always directed at somebody else, not himself (it's never really "self-deprecating").

The whole thing has been strange from the start. If Obama was born in Hawaii, why not spend $10 for a copy of the document instead of hundreds of thousands on lawyers' fees?

I can picture a scenario where he was in fact born in Hawaii and his BC says that Barack Obama, Sr., is his father (whether or not he was the actual sperm donor)...but there is other information on the document that he wants to keep the public away from. Would there be a notation of being adopted by Soetoro or of obtaining foreign citizenship?
