There is every reason to be deeply skeptical of President Obamas prospects in November.
Republicans feel an understandable anxiety about Mr. Obamas coming campaign: It will be all slice and dice, divide and conquer, break the country into little pieces and pick up as many as you can.
But it still matters that the president doesnt have a coherent agenda, or a political philosophy that is really clear to people. To the extent he has a philosophy, it tends to pop up furtively in stray comments and then go away. This is to a unique degree a presidency of inference, its overall meaning never vividly declared. In some eras, that may be a plus. In this one?
Republicans are worried about the power of incumbency, and it is a real power. Presidents command the airwaves, as they used to say. If they want to make something the focus of national discussion, they usually can, at least for a while. And this president is always out there, talking. Butand forgive me, because what Im about to say is rudehas anyone noticed how boring he is? Plonking platitude after plonking platitude. To see Mr. Obama on the stump is to see a man at the podium whos constantly dribbling away the punch line. He looks pleasant but lacks joy; hes cool but lacks vigor.

Of course she is, the GOP now has a RINO in serious need of pimping. Had Santorum won, she would have the long knives out and would be back to praising Obama.
You are both correct regarding Ms. Noonan. That said, this article and hers from last week, drew over 1,200 online comments at the WSJ site. She is influential in the moderate/independent segment of electorate and I see this "awakening" by her on the hypocrisy and ineptitude of 0 as a good thing. Thanks for posting the article Laz. Noonan isn't popular here but it is good to be aware of the thinking of the GOP-E.
Yeah, I figure. They are socialists, as opposed to communists, but hey, a day delayed (of the death of the nation), is a day lived.
I love you.
Peggy Noonan is to conservative journalism what the GM ‘Volt’ is to reliable automotive transportation.
But tell me Laz, would ya hit it? LOL
Yeah and now she has changed her format to "Romney can't be as bad as those TEA partiers are saying he is".
She has her perfect world now, a socialist liberal hack running for POTUS that is also a GOP nominee.
She doesn't need 0bama any more.
Not a flame, but I believe the founders did things the way they did in realization that "good intentions" would nearly always produce disastrous policies.
I personally look at it as 'strategery'. We are in a war for the life of the nation, and our present choice is either 'incremental gain' (even if very minimal) or potential unrecoverable catastrophic loss. That puts it in the "live to fight another day" category.

How a supposedly intelligent woman who is definitely a keen observer can make a statement about the Illegal like this is beyond me. His guiding philosophy is blindingly clear: bitter, virulent dead-end anti-Ameican hatred driven in equal parts by utterly toxic communism and radical Islamism. Once one realizes that's his genuine core philosophy, every thing else that she lists falls logically and inevitably into place. Hell, we here on FR don't even need to go into the details since we all know it. Suffice it to say that mere incompetence cannot explain all the bad things going in one direction that's driving us to ruin, communism, and Islam; outright malevolence, OTOH, readily can. Peggy needs to wise up all the way. Otherwise she'll remain just the addled nit (a louse egg) brain she is now.
I love you.
Noonan attacking Obama proves anew the old Congreve adage: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”
Somehow I get the feeling that not all that long ago, the once-ardent Ms Noonan put her hand on Barack’s knee, and the disinterested queen demurely shoved it away.
Incumbency is an albatross around Obama’s neck; he owns the last three and a half years (especially since he had Congress for the first two of them), and will now accept the consequences of the continued misery of the American public.
I believe Obama will have a hard time raising money; besides the fact that the “hope” is dead, people in general (on both sides of the aisle) have less money than they did four years ago. The few young people that still believe (those fortunate enough to be working) will not offset the energy of the young fools waiting for their first jobs that know they were conned in the first election.
Isn’t she one of the ones who wanted the Marxist?
He has BILLIONS of our $$ he funneled to his Union buddies to re-funnel to him. Even the Socialist Mittens hasn’t that kind of $$, and I will like with McCain have to hold my nose and vote for him. Can’t oust the ‘safe’ rat House critter, I live in Memphis where all RATS are safe, even the openly crooked ones.
But they don’t have to. And the worlds a different place. We can’t all farm. Set goals. Government doesn’t seem to be able to do that.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
A scorned woman writes about her former messiah.

I have seen it now. It is a good one. Thanks.
