Can I make a suggestion?

Do you wanna see FR return to its glory days? Two simple steps:

1.) Un-zot every account you've zotted since April '07 and invite all those old Freepers back. Guaranteed word would spread and many would return.

2.) Put a leash on your moderators. Let people hash it out with each other, settle old scores and speak their mind free of fear from the zot. Intellectual discourse would once again set this place apart from the rest.

You could still maintain on a personal level your anti-Romney stance while allowing the members of this forum to speak freely without restraint. Jim, this was the Free Republic I joined over eleven years ago. It was a great place! (And I'd bet the money would start flowing back in as well).

Amen, brother.

Conservatives differ from liberals in no greater respect than this: we are proud individuals, not collectivist sheep. We share common principles and ideals but often - hell - damned near always - differ on the best strategy and tactics by which those principles might be achieved. Leftists practice political correctness and shun dissenters. We ought never emulate them. Shame on us if we do.

Our primary goal must be the removal of Obama and the Marxist, anti-capitalist, pro-Islamic radicals with whom he has infected our nation. Otherwise, the America that we all love will be lost.

No one here truly likes or trusts Mitt Romney, not really. But he does not hate America. Obama truly, demonstrably does. That's enough of a difference for me.

I might be a LITTLE less free wheeling than that. I don't see any need to allow folks to trash Jim's CORE VALUES wholesale with impunity. However, the super rigid, super narrow, super prissy, super self-righteous, haughty, smug, authoritARIAN attitude of some of the mods has turned many many quality FREEPERS away and countless thousands of dollars.

SOMEHOW THERE NEEDS TO BE A RETURN TO MAJORING IN MAJORS and minoring in minors. And, if anyone needs to be zotted, it's the 'I'm god-like'-mods who have let power go to their inflated heads and zot fingers.

SOMETIMES it SEEMS like their greatest claim to glory and their greatest pride is convincing themselves that they've successfully played Jim like a piano against the FREEPERS they personally despise for mysterious reasons.

And that perception's just extrapolated reasonably from those significant numbers who have voluntarily bothered to comment to me. And they think my supportive-of-FR almost regardless replies to them are merely my own suck-up naivete and need for daddy Jim's approval emotionally and psychodynamically.
