For the most part I agree with you. We did have choices early on. None of those people who valiantly entered the race was perfect. They are all politicians, have records be it in active service or out of service. Those records almost never show a perfect specimen.
But they are all not naive when it comes to what they are up against. Face it. We were looking for a hero. We all wanted this to go away and we were looking for a dragon slayer to come in and fix it all. We found only imperfect humans. Heros aren’t born, they are raised and nurtured in the political sense, and they fall once in awhile.
This whole contest reminds me of a game show where you choose a door and get a prize, it isn’t the big prize behind the first door, so you get a choice to keep it or choose another door which may be a lesser prize. But we kept choosing the next door because it wasn’t what we wanted. We never got the car or the houseboat. We got the booby prize. A years worth of Tide and the game show board game.
Whoopee, we smile, accept it and remind ourselves that we have to make the best of a bad situation, take what we get for now and think about the mistakes we made.
The really bad situation is Obama. He is the real booby prize.
This race is a referendum on Obama. It isn’t about who we choose to all the people out there. I talk to many of them. They want a living warm body to vote for to replace him.
It isn’t going to be a festive election. It is going to be seen as a task that has to be done. Kind of like cleansing a wound so it will heal.
You still have faith in the system... you still think that there is hope and a place for Conservatism in the gop... but I no longer have a spark of that left in me. I know how these people despise me and those like me... I know that they do not want us involved in any way other than to buy into their fantasy and donate as much as they can scam from us and then march us down to the voting booth like cattle.
Reagan didn't believe in this crap... he preached against it. You go and read his 1975 CPAC speech and read it with an open mind. romney does not fit into his vision in any manner... as a matter of fact... mitt declared that he was never part of the Reagan Revolution and that he never supported him.
I truly appreciate the debate and your kind civility.
