Everyone please send whatever you are able to, whether it is $10, $100 or $1,000+. The DUmmies, Morons, Kos Kiddies and that crew are laughing up their sleeves. Jim may have to make this site members only or allow ads. Better for us to just help with what we can. Maybe you can donate as a memorial for a lost loved one, a servicemember who never made it home or was disabled defending our country. Perhaps you'd like to give to keep free discussion alive and to show them that we're not knuckling under. I'm sure a well thought out or prayerful meditation will lead you to see the need and how you can help. If every registered FReeper and our lurkers would each just help out with a fin or a sawbuck, or better yet a Ben Franklin, we could put this to bed and get on with the conservative cause.
Yes, but how many of them are going to remember their usernames and passwords?
Well said!
Well said, indeed.
No there hasn’t. Reagan was a good politician, he played to win. He did not try to limit his supporters, but broaden his appeal to as many as possible. He was not a my way or the highway type of guy. He was a team player, a great teammate. He made everyone in the GOP coalition feel part of something larger. He wouldn’t stomp all over a Tom Kean because he was what today is called a RINO. He understood that the politics of every region of this country is different. He worked with a Kean to move the ball of free enterprise, strong defense down the field. His best feature was his ability to communicate Conservatism in a clear and intelligent manner.
And that perception's just extrapolated reasonably from those significant numbers who have voluntarily bothered to comment to me. And they think my supportive-of-FR almost regardless replies to them are merely my own suck-up naivete and need for daddy Jim's approval emotionally and psychodynamically.
Amen, see the hit posts on me on this thread. I was slandered by a closet case and stalked by a drunk. And ya wonder why I was having fun on our Whale Wars Thread!!!
Well, it’s gray now, but I am Italian and still had black hair in 1980.
Yep, some freepers have merely moved over to support the GOP nominee while holding their nose, but there are many here who are just old liberal, anti-social conservatives who are using Romney to advance the same liberalism that they have been pushing during all their time here.
They also enjoy using Romney's skirts to hide behind as they tweak and snip at the conservatives who have been annoying them for so many years.
It will get much worse in time, they are loving their success with getting a Romney in as head of the GOP and keeping it out of the hands of the conservatives.
He doesn’t just stand at the Rio Grande, he has a welcome wagon parked there.
I miss him. Sounds like you do too.
I knew there was something I liked about you! ;)
So am I.
Yup, I've seen those posts. Quite frankly, I no longer understand what's up or down, right or wrong on this site anymore.
He did not pull them. His genius was that they followed him freely.
I think it depends...a few days ago a poster proclaimed that she was an “idiot” for indicating she’d support Romney if he ran against Obama. I don’t recall that poster being censured; presumably because he was on the right side of the issue that trumps all other issues.
Oh well let's see he has a few more weeks of American Idol with his girlfriends where they can act like Mean Girls. He actually is like a male Joy Behar when I think of it. Using that crappy cliche sarcastic attacks trying to sound sophisticated when he's probably using a thesaurus in Microsoft Word to make himself sound smart!
Nitpicker. Okay. He lead them. :-)
I know the attacks happened (I received plenty of them for supporting Perry), but this site (and others) were just overwhelmed with it for awhile. I just don't see what the FR moderators could have realistically done. We just kinda had to get through that. I just don't blame the owner of this site or its moderators for the flood of anti-Perry stuff. It was just so much for awhile I don't think there was a practical way to stop it short of draconian methods that would have ended up causing even more problems. I think this was the direct result of Sarah Palin's actions. Her endless tease campaign caused a lot of damage to our primaries. A LOT of conservatives were so sure she was going to run and were determined to help clear the way for her - Perry (at least for awhile) was the most obvious threat to her candidacy. While Sarah was still dithering, there was a great risk that his campaign could have raised lots of money and established itself as the de-facto anti-Romney candidate. Lots of analysts were already declaring the primary was Perry's to lose. Many active Palin supporters simply went in to war room, overdrive mode and sought to destroy Rick before he could endanger a Palin campaign they were convinced was right around the corner.
You said it. Reagan also reached out to Tip O'Neill. He was a pragmatist, when all was said and done.
Ummm...no, sugarplum, that's not the "real" question. If there is a question about stands, it has already been answered. The core FR crowd is for Obama's reelection. Simple.
You know darn right well what conservatism is and don't bother playing games here with me about it. God given inalienable rights, as our Founding Founders understood, stated, fought for and died for, as embodied in the Declaration of Independence.
It's as I thought. You don't know how to define "real" conservatism, so you attack. Shrug.
You should learn a little history, though. The Founders were not whatever the modern interpretation of "real" conservatives is according to FR. The modern terms "conservative" and "liberal" didn't exist 236 years ago and have no application to the Founders or the times in which they lived. They were men and women of The Enlightenment. They were -- horrors -- the elites and intellectuals of their day. Their ideas were truly radical for the time. In fact, in the period and context in which they were created, both the Declaration and Constitution were the most radical political documents ever written.
The core cabal here at FR hasn't a clue about what the kind of radicalism of the Founders means even in our times, let alone how critical it is for us to conserve the Founders' ideas and legacy. What is on display at FR these days is an ugly totalitarian impulse that is the antithesis of their legacy.
Go ahead. Ping your little coven of nasties. Have me "zotted." Makes not a whit of difference to me. You people don't pay my bills, or put a roof over my head, or do anything of substance in my life. You haven't got the intellectual firepower to go toe-to-toe with me in a debate, nor the simple comprehension that it would take to figure out that what you people are is anything but politically akin to the Founders.
Oh, honey, you don’t want to even see examples.
It would depress you.
I’ve got examples from Perry threads alone that ...
I could to thee a tale unfold whose lightest word would harrow up thy soul, freeze they young blood.
JR has repeatedly said that FR is not a debating society, we could never get anything done if we were just debating liberalism versus conservatism all day.
Do we really need to search for a position on abortion in daily discussion, or try to stop it?
If you like to merely debate the issues, then find a debating forum that has no political mission or goal.
PRAISE GOD FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
I’m humbled and blessed by your kind understanding.
Feeling understood is a high priority to me, given my significant degree of ATTACHMENT DISORDER.
I had just commented to Joya that I thought/hoped that folks could see my heart in my posts on this thread.
Bless you for your kindness.
God’s best to you and yours.
