On good-bye tour, Gingrich touts ability to be Romney surrogate
By NBC's Andrew Rafferty
MOORESVILLE, NC -- Even though his presidential campaign "will go bye-bye," Newt Gingrich on Thursday said he and his wife plan to campaign through the fall to help presumptive nominee Mitt Romney.
"I'm going to look at how I can be helpful, because I suspect people will still show up to hear me," Gingrich told voters at luncheon here. "Callista and I are going to campaign through October."
Though today, just 25 people attended the midday event here, leaving a roomful of empty chairs. Some of those seats were taken by Secret Service, an area the campaign has taken heat for recently because of the thousands of dollars the protection was costing taxpayers, even Gingrich he had become more of a sideshow than serious contender for the GOP nomination.
After losing the Deleware primary on Tuesday, the latest in a long string of electoral defeats, the former Speaker of the House acknowledged he will end his campaign next week. He will continue with his packed schedule through North Carolina, saying he felt an obligation to fulfill previous commitments here.
"The campaign will go bye-bye, but I'll be a citizen," Gingrich told a supporter asking about the candidate's future. "I've been an active citizen since I was 15."....

It could very easily be argued that Newt was always the real stalking horse for Romney. Mainly because nobody will wish to admit it.
But...he will get a pass around here, not that he should. LOL

Oh,Lord, Onyx....if Perry becomes Willards VP, just come visit me in the psych ward, LOL.
Personally, I think his dislike of Romney is too strong. It dates back to Romney supporting homosexuals in the Boy Scouts (Perry was an Eagle Scout.
ROTFL. Oh, that's right!
Gosh, we all despise Romney!

I received a huge envelope marked DO NOT BEND, from President Barack Obama and it contained the usual campaign crap, along with a black and white glossy of the Marxist!Good grief, how revolting! Was it all printed on recycled Kenyan cow dung? HA!

I am convinced that governor Romney, if he is our nominee and if he is elected president, he will know to surround himself with those that will inherently know to go right, to err on the side of smaller, smarter government and that gives me a lot of confidence. I trust Sarahs Judgement.Well we know Romney's got "gaydar" when it comes to hiring his staff members. I'm not convinced he's got "conservadar" though. Seeing the brigade of RINOs such as Souter-recommending, Bush Sr.-tax-hike-recommending John Sununu that stumped for him in the primaries didn't help make that case.

That is hilarious. Rove pushed this loser on us with all his might and all he has to show for it is this awful electoral map.
If you add the solids and leaners for each candidate together and you get:
Obummer 284
Milt 172
Then if you take every single toss up and give it to Milt, you get this
Obummer 284
Milt 254
He still is a loser and it is all squarely on Karl Roves lap. Rove is working for Milt by many reports and this is his mess.

He’s my former Governor. I’ve been mad at him for a good long time for supporting Romney!
You’re right about focusing our energy on TEA Party candidates to stack the U.S. House and Senate, no matter which one wins!
Lord knows we have to oust as many democrats and fossil RINO incumbents as possible.
God help us save our Republic!

And....to boot, this election is not about Mitt Romney. Most folks will be voting against Barack Hussein Obama, period!!!So if Hillary Clinton was the GOP nominee, would you insist this election is not "about" Hillary Clinton? You don't think an election is about what the winner is going to do for the next 4 years?
My values don't shift in the wind or change with the times. Every election is always about promoting the exact same conservative principles to me. Different elections aren't "about" different thigns. That's nothing but amoral political consultant speak.

But they’ll never admit it. The attitude of the GOP establishment is that Obama is so appealing, likable and popular that he’s almost unbeatable. They’ll claim Mitt was their only shot and anyone else would’ve lost by a bigger margin.

I think Newt did to Santorum what Huckabee did to Romney in 08. Huckabee took enough votes away from Romney to lock up the nomination for McCain. Had Newt dropped out Santorum probably would of won Michigan and maybe stopped Romney. But Newt didnt owe anything to Santorum and had every right to stay in as long as he had funding to continue.
Of course thats just my opinion.
