Not entirely true. Down here in Texas killing hogs and letting them lay is allowed.

In PA you’re supposed to leave ferral hogs and coyotes where they fall but you are supposed to call the Game Commission and tell them where you shot it.

Had an argument about that with my brother. He had trapped to little ones, about 12 lbs or so, and wanted to cut them up for coydog trap bait. I wanted to eat them. He did promise me the next couple of little ones he traps. I love me some tender young piglet.
Apparently, so do the coydogs.
And yes, it's legal to leave them, which I would do with anything over 150lbs. Destructive little buggers.

Not entirely true. Down here in Texas killing hogs and letting them lay is allowed. And I'll bet they can still reproduce.

"Down here in Texas killing hogs and letting them lay is allowed." One of my cousins did exactly that back on my "back 60"; I saw the ~200-lb beast lying in a clearing. A week later, while we were taking a walk, I decided to show it to my wife -- and it was gone! Nothing was left except for a few tufts of hair and a couple of small bones!!
I'm not sure I want to encounter whatever devoured that monster -- and I'm certain I don't want to do so unarmed!

Feral hogs are not game animals.
