Do Kagan and Sotomayor have to come up with ideas, or is that all done for them by ghost-writers and staff?

Since I have never read anything intelligent by either of them, I think maybe they write their own opinions. They have spell checkers and grammar checkers to make sure they spell everything correctly and conjugate their verbs. They don't have any "ideas", just marching orders from the White House.
