If that is the case, then why do they keep having $30,000 a plate fundraisers at places like George "Looney" Clooney's house?

BTW, how does paying 30,000 for 2 dollars worth of food get around the campaign finance restrictions on donations????? I would rather have straight up unlimited donations than all the crooked creative naming that goes on.

I said "a lot of his Hollywood pals," I didn't say "everyone in Hollywood." Clooney is a well-known hard lefty, along with Susan Sarandon, Cher, Shirley McLane, Whoopie Goldberg, Ted Dantzen, etc., etc., ad infinitum.

Hollywood, like any other workplace, is probably made up of factions and fiefdoms. For all I know, Lovitz sees Clooney once or twice a year, never talks to him, and doesn't depend on him for work.

Clooney's an medium-good actor, Lovitz is a comedian and a rather good one. Clooney's career skids were greased by his very famous mom. Lovitz had a childhood connection into the biz, but somewhat more tenuous. In any event, stand-up comics are some of the smartest people in the entertainment industry; they have to be. An actor can be as dumb as a post and it makes no difference at all, most of the time.

There are a few exceptions, of course. Judy Holliday, Jill St. John, (possibly) Julie Newmar come to mind among women. Also (possibly) Ann Margaret, and for sure Hedy Lamarr. Pat Sajak and Tom Sellick strike me as being pretty intelligent too, but they don't have the reputations that the three ladies I named have.

Those in Hollywood probably know very well who the dumb-dumbs are, just like people in any corporate culture come to figure out who's pulling the wagon and who's going along for the ride.

Mr. Lovitz has probably calculated that his career won't be hurt by going public with his opinion of Obama. He's probably right, too.
