I'm going to guess that the little darlings playing basketball were cursing and screaming at each other at the top of their lungs, and probably engaging in underage drinking, and felt disrespected when the guy asked them to tone it down.

I’m gonna guess anyone with a lick of common sense could see that there were better ways to approach such an inconvenient situation, i.e. via neutral third parties.
