GOP elite holds off the tea partiers.
Politico ^ | April 21, 2012 | James Hohmann

The Republican Party establishment has withstood the tea-party revolution.

The tricorne-hat wearing, Gadsden-flag waving insurgents were nowhere near the Republican National Committee’s annual meeting of state chairman, which wrapped up at a posh resort here Saturday afternoon.

Instead, veteran party leaders — who wore business suits even in the 100-degree heat — reigned supreme.

The 2012 meeting of the Republican national command shows just how little has actually changed in the Grand Old Party since the tea-party movement helped Republicans capture the U.S. House majority two years ago and announced that they were a powerful force in American politics.

While tea-party activists have won county chairmanships and seats on state central committees, few (if any) activists have clinched slots on the Republican Party’s 168-member governing committee.

This article is a J-O-K-E. Tell it to Richard Lugar, tell it to Orrin Hatch. They are shitting in their Depends over Tea Party-endorsed upstarts, and Lugar is going down at the very least. We are not done by a longshot.

You miss the point of the article, and I wonder if you read it - it is about the big bash in AZ and demonstrates how the Tpartiers are making no progress in climbing the internal GOP corporate ladder.

They are still hammering in the elections, agree, and better stuff to come. But this is about the human crud that populates the GOP inner circles, and doles out the favors and underhanded tricks, i.e., which romney has benefited greatly from...

When ‘None of the Above’ is the favored Nominee, then the Delegates at the National Convention in Tampa are obligated to reject the ‘winner’ and select the BEST Nominee.

The Primary Campaign thus far has shown that the politics of ‘Debt and Decline’ of Obama will not be changed with the GOP Nominee being Romney.

This Primary Campaign has shown that only the candidates without a workable plan to reduce baseline Federal spending are popular with the Primary voters.

Hence, it is incumbent upon the Republican National Committee to step in, withdraw their endorsements of Romney, and declare an open Convention in Tampa.

To do less is to insure another 4 years of voters choosing 4 more years of ‘Debt and Decline’ from Obama, or Romney.

We, as a Nation, cannot afford either one.

Listen to this from the story:

==============But when asked about the tea-party’s influence in interviews here, the movement was always spoken of in the third person and as one constituency in the larger Republican coalition, sort of like defense hawks or fiscal conservatives.

Many Republicans here said that tea-party activists now understand that things will run more smoothly if those with experience are in charge rather than those who put a premium on ideology over process.==============

If anybody needed to know the extend of the GOP-E’s arrogance, there it is right there.

They look down upon conservatives in a major way.

I am not supporting the GOP candidate for president this time. If I see tea party candidates for lesser office, I will support them. I support conservatives, not republicans.

GOP elders sympathize with the movement’s ideas and want to channel whatever energy the decentralized groups offer for November.

I'll bet they do. But this "sympathy" comes at the cost of offering a candidate that is anathema to everything the Tea Party adherents stand for: large government, gun control, pro-abort. What we have here is nothing more than lip service: the lip service Romney has made toward the conservative position on these issues that his record contradicts, and the lip service the GOP elite has made toward the Tea Party people on the ideas with which they purportedly "sympathize." It is, in short, a lie.

...when asked about the tea-party’s influence in interviews here, the movement was always spoken of in the third person and as one constituency in the larger Republican coalition...

This is, I think, excellent analysis. Were this the traditional politics it seems, some concession would be made to this constituency, some compromise, but in fact nothing of the sort has been made or looks likely. Does anyone really think Romney is going to start pushing Tea Party programs? Does anyone think that a Vice Presidential candidate acceptable to the Tea Partiers is even on the table when the talk is of Rice and Portman?

Clearly the GOPe considers the Tea Party movement not ready for national prime time, and perhaps they are correct. But the attempts to incorporate its passion, its programs, its membership into a broader Republican effort have been just as amateur and ineffectual as anything they have accused the Tea Partiers of. It simply isn't very good politics and it doesn't look to improve much. I'd love to be wrong about that but the smart money just isn't on it.

Which is exactly WHY I am campaigning AGAINST both Romney and Obama - and working towards getting everyone to vote for the Constitution party candidate for Prez and straight Conservative in every other race.

The Ruling Class hates our guts, are allies with Obama, and their contempt by foisting a candidate they know will lose to Obama demands that we stop playing their game and drinking the poison they are shoving in our face.

I’m finished aiding the GOP, and will only vote Conservative, wherever they are found.

The Marxist Left and the GOP Ruling Class is at war with Conservative America! When are we going to recognize that reality and treat them in-kind?

I’ve signed my Declaration of Independence from the Ruling Class GOP-e. They can pound sand.

I know it's a long article, but I really hope people will take the time to read it. IT is dripping with arrogance and condescencion.

Esp this quote you cited: "Many Republicans here said that tea-party activists now understand that things will run more smoothly if those with experience are in charge rather than those who put a premium on ideology over process.."

In other words, boys and girls, don't bother us with those silly things called principles or standing for what you believe. You'll do much better if you keep working in the fields, and REMEMBER: DON'T EVER COME UP ON THE PORCH AGAIN.

Disgusting. And the elite will be even more emboldened once they cram Romney down our throats. They'll know next time, it's just a matter of waiting those silly TPartiers out..

Yep, I see Romney to be a bigger threat this time than Obama. If he wins, the direction of the GOP will forever be changed.

I posted your analysis in my replay because it is spot on. You forgot one important fact, though: the GOP was more than happy to take the gains in the House and Senate via the Tea Party 2010, Boehner got his speakership, etc etc.

And now, they want us to take our marching orders from them and not make waves..

That's what Romney is about, they choose, we abide.

That's why voting and working for Newt is so important. They TOTALLY HATE HIM. And he's got their number, bigtime.

Yep, I see Romney to be a bigger threat this time than Obama. If he wins, the direction of the GOP will forever be changed.

If they succeed with Romney, they will know they just have to wait the conservatives, all types, out and eventually, they will support the nominee. It is a very dangerous message we are sending to the GOP-e.

That's why people rolling over for Romney don't really understand what they are doing, I don't think so, anyway.

NEWT can do this, if everyone would unite behind him, The Last Conservative Standing...

Thanks for this thread.

_____________

HEY ROMNEY!

Look us in the eye,

And never, EVER lie!

If you mean what you say,

Then say what you mean!

Stand and deliver

What you plan to do,

In case you haven’t noticed,

No one likes you.

Our line in the sand,

Puts your “Romney Road to Ruin”

Alongside “Obama’s Wrong Track.”

So stop your damned “Smiley-Face,”

And attack, Attack, ATTACK!

We will oppose you in Tampa,

For what you lack,

We want America to be back

On the Constitution Track.

Do you have it in you?

I doubt that you do,

You see a Pinko future,

And we see Red, White and Blue.

Oh, No!! thank you Wonderful Wordsmith Person. :) the fight in your words fairly jumps off the page...

My most favorite line. TO Romney:

In case you haven’t noticed, No one likes you."

GO NEWT!! ONTO TAMPA!
