Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, won half of the contingent of national convention delegates chosen Saturday in Missouri's complicated selection process.
The former Massachusetts governor picked up 12 delegates, while seven went to former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania even though he withdrew from the race last week.
Trailing were U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas with four and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia with one.
The 24 delegates were picked at conventions in each of the state's eight U.S. House districts; those voting were selected at local caucuses earlier. Most of the remainder of Missouri's 52-person delegation to the national convention in Tampa will be chosen at the GOP State Convention in June.
Santorum had won the nonbinding Missouri presidential primary in February when he was still a candidate.

Sure glad I participated in the “$7 million beauty contest!” Makes me feel like I accomplished something! /s
Or they won't bother to go - I call that a window of opportunity.
Now you know why Missouri has a democrat governor and the witch (dem) Claire McCaskill as senator. Sure we have Roy Blunt but he needs to move further to the right too.
Cap and Trade, maybe. Why endorse someone who sat on a couch with Nancy for that monstrosity? Might as well endorse the frontrunner if there's no difference between the candidates on the most unconstitutional issue.
Cap and Trade is Taxation Without Representation which left only Santorum, Perry, Cain, and Bachmann for me to vote for since those four always opposed it. Since they're all out I'm going to have to look to Goode, see what he's all about. I voted for the CP platform in 2004 instead of McCain, If Goode is a conservative maybe I can actually support the candidate along with the platform this time.
2008 I meant. Time flies.
Sometimes that might work, sometimes it won't. This strategy probably wouldn't work here in NC, where we have a big drawing referendum (the marriage amendment) that will pull scads of voters out regardless of who they're GOP primary choice is.
What are you talking about?
If Newt dropped out, when he saw he wasn’t winning the contests, Rick Santorum could have been the nominee, rather than Romney.
Newt helped Romney get the nomination, even after Romney did this to him:
“Romney insists on trying to destroy Newt Gingrich over the same false, trumped-up ethics charges just like Democrats did. Hes acting exactly like a power hungry Democrat who is willing to say anything to get elected ..”

Romney joins the Dems, with their trumped up charges, even though Newt was found innocent of the charges, but yet, Newt helped Romney. How ironic.
I’m talking about the fact that Santorum never had any business being in there in the first place, since he’s not a conservative, yet he was able to gyp a lot of conservatives into voting for him. Santorum was just another establishment good-boy, helping the RINO to get the win, just like he did back with Arlen Specter.
...but then, what is the overwhelming majority conservative view compared to YOURS?
LOL
Too bad you, and others, didn’t do your research, but it’s too late now. It’s going to be Romney.
But here’s Santorum’s record:
“American Conservative Union 88%
National Right to Life Committee 100%
Americans for Tax Reform 95%
National Tax Limitation Committee 92%
U.S. Chamber of Commerce 88%
League of Private Property Voters 94%”

Ill forgive Newt for endorsing RINO Dede Scozzavave in NYs 23rd district, if youll forgive Rick Santorum for his mistakes (or perceived mistakes).
We should not hold that alone against Newt, but we also shouldnt expect Santorum to be perfect either.
ALSO, Santorum endorsed Dede Scozzavaves OPPONENT, CONSERVATIVE Doug Hoffman.
NEXT, lets look at Rick Santorums REASON for endorsing Specter:
“The Truth Regarding Santorums Endorsement of Arlen Specter
October 12, 2011
The reason I endorsed Arlen Specter is because we were going to have two Supreme Court nominees coming up, said Santorum. I got a commitment from Arlen Specter that no matter who George W. Bush would nominate, he would support that nominee.

Santorum said Alito would not be a Justice if it werent for Specter. Specter was very effective at being the head of the Judicial Committee.
OK, now its YOUR TURN. Care to tell me why Newt endorsed Dede Scozzavave?
Arlen Specter (it would seem) is a man who is for sale.
He works for those who give him the best deal.
Now he’s working in comedy clubs making jokes about past associates.
It’s “proven.” Arlen Specter is a jerk.
I want someone who will come out and say this is a fraud, an attempt to unconstitutionally tax the American people to send our capital overseas, like Santorum did.
“....Its proven. Arlen Specter is a jerk.”
I agree with you on that.
