I’m glad you brought up “Tumbleweed Connection”. I always thought it was one of the most unjustly neglected disks that EJ recorded. Badly underrated.
With the possible exceptions of “Madman Across The Water” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, “Tumbleweed Connection” is my favorite Elton disc. The songs are throwback’s to a different time and were patterned on the template The Band pioneered. “My Father’s Gun” or “Country Comfort” could’a been Robertson songs and I’ve alway’s longed to hear Elton cover “Cripple Creek” or “The Night They Drove Ol’ Dixie Down”.
