He had no reason nor intention on shooting Martin. It was during the struggle for the gun that someone pulled/pushed the trigger. It happened to be facing Martin's chest when it went off.

He hadn't pulled the gun to defend himself. He was trying to keep Martin from taking it.

Yeah, what you have said makes sense.
I have a harder heart than Zimmerman I think. I don’t think I would be regretful at all had the same circumstance occurred to me.
I admire Zimmerman’s compassion, I don’t know why, but I do. He does not seem like the man the media painted at all.
