An arrest requires that a person be read their rights - does that happen if they’re just being detained? Do you know if Zimmerman was read his Miranda rights? By the way Mark - it’s always nice when you take the time to explain things - it’s appreciated.
That is not quite true. If they are arrested, and questioned, and not read their rights, then the evidence gained may be thrown out of court. They would still have been under arrest.
I do not know when or if George Zimmerman was read his Miranda rights. It appears that he fully cooperated with police. If he volunteered the information about the attack and his self defense claims, then Miranda warnings would not apply.
