Those were members of another generation. The ones who recited the pledge of allegiance and prayed each morning in public school. Prayed before meals. The ones who served in the military. And, when in OCS, where required to attend chapel every Sunday. If absent, the CO's wife came around assuming there was illness in the family. If your wife or kids screwed up on base, it reflected upon you. If you screwed up, it reflected on your CO. Right and wrong. No ambiguity. No situational ethics or moral relativism. That was a long time ago...
