Students at a vocational school who just wanted to learn how to weld were afraid for their lives when their teacher lined them up, pulled a gun from his waistband and started firing blanks at them.

Guns aren’t toys, period. People frequently get blanks and real rounds confused.
Putting people in fear for their life isn’t funny, its sadistic and pathetic.
As I see it there are four issues involved here:
1) Gun laws: There is a reason there are sound and solid reasons there are laws against “brandishing a firearm “. The laws of his state should be enforced in this matter.
2) Behavior as a teacher: He should be terminated, regardless of his mental health state, and should never be allowed to find work involving children again.
3) Mental health: This would influence criminal charges and punishment.
4) This could happen at a private school as well as government school so I don’t see this a being a problem intrinsic to the government schools.
Oh my.....
I see that I was WAAAAYYYYYY too late.
But homeschooling is that solution. For that matter, it's the ONLY true alternative to group education and it DOES to read between the lines and think for themselves instead of being led blindly by enemies to freedom in our media, government and education. (Besides the fact that that is irrelevant to the discussion at hand, which is the stupid *educator's* actions. Hey, but don't waste an opportunity to slam homeschooling.)
This teacher gives new meaning to the term *idiot*.
If he doesn't like the consequences of his actions, he needs to think about that before pulling some major league stupid @ss stunt like this.
I was going to post a reasonable reply to your post here but then decided to go back through your posting history on this thread and see how the conversations went, and decided against it.
What this person did is inexcusable by any stretch of the rational imagination. In your frenzied attempts to justify public schooling and this teacher, you have obviously lost sight of that.
Can you imagine the reaction if a student did this to the teachers?
Or someone did this to obama?
Would it be called a *stunt* then?
“I was going to post a reasonable reply to your post here but then decided to go back through your posting history on this thread and see how the conversations went, and decided against it.”
If your post was reasonable and intelligent (like this one) then you wouldn’t end up like Tiger. I have no desire to lambast good people. Tiger made erroneous accusations which he couldnt defend and then resorted to logical fallacies and name calling when challenged on it. Instead of just accept the fact that he was wrong he continued to press...so I gave him what he deserved.
Regarding the rest of this post, Ive already said its no question this guy was compromised in some way and that what he did was wrong. Thats not the point. The point is does the charges levied against him and the potential punishment fit the crime? He should be accountable for something, but 12 counts of felony charges and a potential for 60 year imprisonment? Common; I refuse to believe you arent alarmed by this or find this acceptable.
Furthermore, does anyone even know what really transpired? Its easy to pass judgment when all youve been told is a tiny sliver of the facts by an anti-gun sympathetic media. All Ive done is implore people to take a deep breath and look at the frailty of the notions theyve been led to believe and the gross abuse of justice and its misappropriation.
After I read the article and ran what I knew over in my mind I was outraged not at the teacher but the failure of the justice system and media.
“But homeschooling is that solution. For that matter, it’s the ONLY true alternative to group education
It’s more of a rejection than a solution...still...it’s not the only solution. You are implying that all group education is somehow bad which simply is not true. Homeschooling is your prerogative but dont be arrogant and assume that it is somehow superior to all other forms of education. Another solution is to do what I did and choose to fight for the hearts and minds of our kids and change the culture of the schools. Im in the trenches every day doing my part and taking action.

Your assertion is inaccurate. I havent justified anything. Dont start down the logical fallacy path your friend did. Ive stated over a dozen times that what this guy did was wrong. I just dont think it warrants 12 felony charges and 60 years in prison. I dont think people are looking at the case rationally. To me, people ranting and raving and gnashing their teeth about this guy in their posts reeks of mob mentality and street justice. I find that offensive and dangerous because its that very mentality which the left uses to strip our liberties and damage our education, justice system and government; all the things you complain about.
Zero tolerance laws are a good example of how mob mentality allowed law makers to justify stripping people of their individuality and over-criminalize everything. The next time some kid gets arrested for bringing a butter knife to school for their bagel Ill send them to you to convict them in the court of street justice and mobocracy.
That's all you had.
Your posts or your whole life?
“Your posts or your whole life?”
Next I suppose you’ll be whipping out the “your momma” jokes.
Get a life.
The "argument" was won here but you are too much of an idiot to concede to the law itself.
He knew they couldn't shoot back, or otherwise effectively defend themselves.
Accordingly, he should get the 60 years. The Principal and school superintendent should get the maximum federal time:
United States Code, Title 18, U.S. Criminal Code, §ection 241

Buy a clue, loser.
Skool teecher can't spell even with a spell checker. ROTFLOL
With ad-hominems and stupidity. Not one post with substance. Nothing. Not one cite of the law. Not one cite of a similar case supporting you. Zer0.
Umm...the law you posted doesn’t apply here. Did you even read it before posting it? LOL
If that sentence is an example of good grammar it's more proof that public school is child abuse thanks to teachers like you.
“Not one cite of the law”
You mean like the ones you posted that either don’t apply or have nothing to do with the case? LOL
“Buy a clue, loser”
Ooh...buuurn. LOL
The statute I just posted does apply to that quite specifically. With your lack of reading comprehension though you will never figure it out.
Unless of course you just ignore that even when it's spoon fed to your little brain. lol
