America was built by barn-raisers. By volunteer associations. By private enterprise. I hate that word capitalism, because it implies that plutocrats —like Morgan—built the country. They played their role, but had a weakness for bigness. Instructive that Carnegie and Frick created a giant firm, but after it was merged into US Steel. it lost its efficiency. Cartels in America have a rough time. Not trust-busing but competition breaks up the concrete.

Anywho, the "gal" on Hannity exhibits selective recall. Zimmerman, in his comments that " . . . they always get away with it", did not make any statement which could be interpreted (other than by liberals) as being directed at any particular racial or ethnic group. The "@ssholes" Zimmerman was referring to were the individuals who had committed acts of crime in the neighborhood, whoever they may have been. I do not believe Zimmerman cared one iota about the skin color of those who committed the burglaries.
It isn't free market capitalism - that was pretty much the only game in town at the time of our founding as Marx had not yet infected the world with the sinister notion that the government should own the means of production.
What makes America great is that we were the first nation to recognize the natural rights of man.
What makes America unique is that we put in place a Constitution that envisioned a government of limited and enumerated powers.
What makes America AMERICAN is that we recognize the sovereignty of the individual.
Now the right to own your own property and to sell it at a price you deem fair is PART of the natural rights of man - it was not exactly a right under assault at the time of our founding.
The plantation system created by the English in the Southern United States was responsible for the development of that part of the country. Until the 18th century, it relied as much on Indian slaves and white servants as it did blacks. Then around 1695, a plague decimate the indian population. causing a labor shortage. That was made up quickly after the wars with France and Spain, which gave the Atlantic slave trade to the English. What many forget in talking about slavery is that after 1715 the colonies had a population boom as Europeans finally became acclimitated to the conditions of the new world. Unlike the West Indies, where slave labor had constantly to be replemished., the black population in North America grew naturally at a very fast rate, more than the population in their homeland. So much so that Virginia soon had a surplus and a desire to sell slaves to the Carolinas and Georgia. If a fifth of all the colonists were black slaves, it was owing to the fact that like the starved immigrants from Europe, slaves flourished physically in the mainland colonies. Unlike the indians whose populations seemed to melt where they came into contact with whites,
