The top 3 candidates for the U.S. Senate from Pennsylvania are Tom Smith, Sam Rohrer and Steve Welch. I am doing research to try to find the best one to run against Bob Casey (D). As part of my research, I appreciate any feedback from FReepers as to which one you think is best and why. The primary is April 24th. I believe that taking the Senate is almost as important as taking the White House this election. I'm looking for the most conservative person that can win! Thanks.
Tom Smith
I’m going with Scaringi (sp?). He strikes me as an actual conservative.
I am voting for Sam. A classic good guy, and a conservative. He, I believe, is from Lancaster Co.
I am voting for Smith. Welch is not anything close to a Conservative. He voted for Obummer and sent campaign cash to Sleaztak. I don’t like Sam Rohrer because he voted FOR the midnight pay raise and also he seems to be running for some higher office every time I turn around. Sam has been in elected office since ‘92. That is too long out of the private sector for me.
Smith seems genuine and had a real job for most of his life. For me, he seems like the most Conservative choice this time.
Don’t really know the men running against Casey..
But GOOD LUCK to them all and hope one of them will send Casey home...He won over Rick on his Father’s name and background ONLY he has been worthless these entire six years.very seldom do we see him in the Press or on TV, like a church mouse he runs and hides. His form letters he sends to constitutes who write or call him is a laughing matter...HE NEVER ANSWERS YOUR ORIGINIAL QUESTIONS TO HIM...just beats around the bush..
once it took two months for him to respond and I had totally forgotten what I asked him about..is that crazy or not???
Just hope PA. will vote all Democrats out and most importantly OBAMA OUT.
Scaringi is a former aide to Senator Santorum.
Supporting Sestak is a *TOTAL* deal-breaker for me. I can’t begin to articulate how glad I am to not see him at my polling place anymore (for some reason the SOB always showed up here)...
Well, that settles it, then.
LOL. Good old Joe was your Rep. Lucky you. I guess you are south of me. I am in Charlie Dent territory.
Hear, hear.
Avoid Welch like the plague. He abandoned the GOP in 2007 so that he could support both Sestak and Obama, and then changed parties again just in time for this election. The PA GOP-E, especially Governor Corbett and the vile state party chairman Bob Gleason, is backing Welch because he's one of their cabal, and can self-finance with his millions.
Nobody Trusts a Republican Who Switches to the Democratic Party-- Except maybe Tom Corbett.
Smith was a democRAT his entire life until 2008. Welsh was a democRAT until 2010. They are BOTH fake phony frauds!
Sam Rohrer is the best candidate to defeat the scumbag Casey.
Did Smith vote for the Midnight Pay Raise too?
Yep. If I get on my roof I can see the Commodore Barry.

Tom Smith
Yes, the more research I do the more I like Rohrer. Tom Smith and Steve Welch, have been Democrats in the past, though they now call themselves conservatives and are running as Republicans. Plus, the local liberal rag, Pittsburgh Post Gazette is backing Welch; that tells me a lot! The other two, David Christian and Marc Scaringi, seem like very nice men but have little or no experience in winning elections. We are close to November, and in order to beat the incumbent Casey it will take a smart, well-run campaign.
