Just some added comments.....

Romney’s track record has two disguishable and major earmarks:

1) he is an accomplished liar, and... 2) he campaigns Right and governs Left.

According to his own campaign staff, any promises will be etch-a-sketched into nothingness once he secures the nomination.

Both Romney and Obama are “Progressives” which is just yet another political camouflage term for Statist / Leftist / Socialist.

None should sign their name on either...they are one and the same.

Only trouble is they seem to be mobilized for action and we still think we can vote them out.

By now, it ought to be abundantly clear to every thinking person, that the corruption and evil that has infested our government is far too deep and widespread to be rooted out by the civil means provided in our Constitution.

It's time we all began looking to the Declaration of Independence for answers.

Without arguing about what Romneycare specifically does, I want to make a more general comment.

Every state is required by law to provide abortion coverage under medicaid. Of the 50 states:
- 17 states use state funds to provide all or most medically necessary abortions. Of these, 13 are due to a court order, 4 did so voluntarily.
- 32 states provide abortions in cases of life endangerment, rape and incest. 2 add fetal impairment, 3 add “grave, long-lasting damage to the woman’s physical health”
- 1 state provides abortions only in cases of life endangerment

So every governor of every state in the union, if he has signed a budget law, has approved the murder of innocent children. We are not allowed to discuss whether Romneycare is particularly worse in this regard than other state laws (I think we probably could, but someone would claim it was “defending Romney”, and I don’t want to go there). I think the existance of Romneycare itself created a more serious problem, but only in degree, not in substance (same problem, just more of it, so I don’t think it makes one evil and one “not evil”).

On the “gay” issue, I think measured by the standard you suggest we would have a more serious problem with people otherwise considered good conservatives. Without getting into an argument over it, I will say that there is SOME evidence that Sarah Palin is not as strict on the issue of homosexuality as some suggest is necessary (there was some dust-up about that, I have decided that until she makes a direct pronouncement I will not take sides on what her position is). Clearly Dick Cheney supports gay agenda items I find abhorent, but I don’t think that makes him “evil”. But that’s not an argument against your label, just a note that I think your argument makes more people “evil” than one might imagine.

I think we hit similar problems with other issues taken singly — we will find otherwise acceptable conservatives who were on the wrong side of the eco issue, or of the financial mess, or other issues — and this includes people who did more than just state a position, but who actually voted for things that you cite as causing evil outcomes. Again, maybe they ARE all evil — I’m not arguing whether you are right or wrong on that point, only noting that the list of “evil” people would be rather larger than the one man you mention, and would cover people we have supported at Free Republic at times in the past and present.

It could be that the measure is to take all the individual things together, and by preponderance of wrong choices one becomes “evil”. I would argue that this would be a “degree” of evil, rather than crossing a dividing line between “good” and “evil”, but I would understand the opposing argument.

You assume much about Romney that his public record does not support. I don't care what he says on the campaign trail. The man has a RECORD, and that record is decidedly LIBERAL

Before you judge Romney's record you must first be familiar with Massachusetts politics.I'm old enough to remember when there were only three stations on TV and I've lived here *all my life*.Have you ever even *been* to Massachusetts, let alone ever lived here?

And no,Romney's not my favorite Republican. He's not even my *third* favorite. But he's WORLDS better than Osama Obama ever dreamed of being.

As long as Obama continues un-opposed by congress in by-passing the Constitution, other than lip-sevice, I cannot see what options are possible. I have grave doubts there would be enough Americans who would get behind a movement... America's face isn't exactly the face of America anymore. Convince me otherwise...please.

I have believed this Primary and the General would reveal the face of America for what I hoped it to be....it's currently showing otherwise....and the ignorance of many is astounding. Not to mention the Tea Party swaying in the breeze and or supporting Romney now.

It's a mess and then some.

You've swallowed it good haven't you? You cannot explain away he's a liar, that he flip-flops on every issue for political gain only...he has NO center beliefs politically other than he will always govern from the left....always.

Supporting Romney is no different than supporting Obama.

Aaron Burr vs Obama?
Carl Rove vs Obama?
Dick Morris vs Obama?

you get the point, to your point, ANYONE is better than Obama. (and those that advocate letting obama win are just trolls who want the control of the house and senate. THAT is where the real race is located.)

You just need an education from one of our very own Freepers:

Romney distanced himself from Reagan and Reagan’s policies
Romney didn’t like the Contract with America
Romney led the fight for and implemented health care reform almost identical to ObamaCare
Romney called his beta version of ObamaCare “a model for the nation”
Romney defended the individual mandate, saying, “I like mandates. The mandates work.”
Romney supports cap-and-trade “on a global basis”
Romney worked to regulate “greenhouse gas emissions” in Massachusetts
Romney got Massachusetts involved in a regional climate change pact
Romney supports ethanol subsidies
Romney wants to increase spending “substantially” on energy research
Romney opposes the Flat Tax
Romney refused to support the 2003 Bush tax cuts
Romney’s claim to not have raised taxes is called “mostly myth” by Cato Institute
Romney thought Obama’s stimulus would “accelerate the timing of the start of the recovery”
Romney supports TARP
Romney says there’s nothing wrong with companies asking for bailouts
Romney supports No Child Left Behind
Romney supports reappointing Ben Bernanke to chairman of the Federal Reserve

I see the noobie skipper crashed his ship on the rocks. tsk tsk But I'll reply anyway.

You taking the time to post that my comments mean nothing to you! That’s my point! You’re supposes to have a different point of view damn it!!

I was only talking about your insults. Your insults don't mean anything. And they were pretty lame to boot. Can't have a different POV about that. You have to actually bring a POV to the table for that. LOL

He was pretty obvious. Both the far left, and faux conservatives want Romney. I will continue to do everything in my power to see that he goes home with his tail between his legs in November, or before. And that the GOP-E cries like a whipped dog.

I hate liberals. Even with an R beside their name.

Oh, I know Harvey. Good movie but I haven't seen it in decades. As someone else said; it gets this way every election season. As an '04 minted FReeper you truly did miss some of the most contentious flame wars in FR history. But there have been some darned good ones since then and purges as well. I guess you just didn't participate which might speak very well of you. Personally I used to be a wayyyy bigger a-hole than I am now. I've toned it down a lot partly because I wanted to and partly because the mods gave me several subtle indications that it wasn't appreciated.

Notice how only one person, other than the OP, has been zotted here? He decided that his "freedom of expression" meant he ought to be able to be as disrespectful of everybody, including the site owner and his rules, as he felt like. And that he could rub that fact in our noses. Kind of like how drunk kids act with cops all the while bellowing about "freedom of speech." That works good too. lol

Not a problem. If my ballot has a choice I will vote for him or her. Doesn’t even have to be a “real” conservative. As long as they’re not a far-left evil SOB that will do. Then there is the rest of the ballot which I wouldn’t miss voting on for the world. The state and county are going to have tax proposals (they always do) and I’m going to vote them all down whatever they are.

I feel the same way. I’m beyond thinking about sending a message to the GOPe though. One more cycle well underway and they still don’t get it. I just won’t vote for trash like Romney.

the double post shows that either my 'puter, service, or somethiing else is slow. When I post and the little explorer circle goes round and round...I wait a full minute and then press post again...double post.

I see in #424 that you have increased your vocabulary!!! how exciting it must be for you...."pound sand"...insightful,descriptive, meaningful...in fact, based on your previous offerings, practically brilliant. I think I'll get some sand to pound as we speak!!
