Weve told you in previous reports to expect the increasingly broke, desperate and nomadic Occupy movement to continue to make police the enemy and to make more flailing direct actions in an attempt to stir up headlines. In New York City this weekend, they did not disappoint.
As The New York Times East Village Local reported... Last nights riotous atmosphere resulted in a sergeant and lieutenant suffering minor injuries while scuffling with anarchist protesters at the Astor Place Starbucks, the police said.
According to police, around 25 people tried smashing the windows of the cafe with eight-foot long steel pipes at around 8:45 p.m. after attending the Anarchist book fair earlier in the day. Patrons fearing that they would be hit by flying glass hid under tables, the police said in a statement. Several officers were assaulted with pipes and bottles, the police added.

Yes, pigs must die.
As long as they are made into ham, bacon, pork chops, and personal lubricants for Muslims.
I thought the liberal occupiers loved ultra-liberal Starbucks?Like the Sons Of Obama looters and rioters, these types of mobs tend to stay in their own neighborhoods and attack their own people. (They don't want to fight anybody who might fight back. OUCH! That could hurt!)
Occupiers should be treated to a lice and pepper spray bath and then sent home to mommy.
Recreational Rioting...LOL...love it.
At least the occupy crowd isn't hateful like that contemptible right wing tea party bunch
No, they are not Commie enough to be down with the struggle, that is why they attacked Stalinbuks, to send a message. Ya know, that whole Russian Revolution thing which I flunked in history, ya know Bolsheviks vs. the ?
Now the Uber-Liberals get to see the evil-spawn-seed of their ways.
Maybe a wake-up moment for them....

Aren’t the police unions big supporters of Liberal politicians and policies? Will this change their mind or will they continue to empower their enemies?
Wonder who she is going to call if she ever needs help?
What happened to Starbucks is an excellent example of Churchill’s saying that appeasers of tyranny are feeding the alligator hoping it will eat them last...
Astor Place is a very odd place for left wingers to riot. There’s a luxury apartment building that someone put into a parking lot there a couple of decades ago, but otherwise the East Village is a hangout for hippies, both rich and not so rich. And Starbucks?
It’s just a couple of blocks from Washington Square Park, and right next to the middle of NYU. Maybe these are just people from the neighborhood, with too much time on their hands.
I haven’t been down there in a while, but there used to be a Starbucks on the side street just off Washington Square, on the way East toward Astor Place. Kind of an innocuous hole in the wall, I would have said.
Incorrect. The anarchists in Portland have been attacking Starbucks for years. A couple of years ago I think they firebombed one of their stores. I think it's happened in other places, as well.
More than anything, they despise success.
They serve pork at Starbuck’s?
Mmmm..... pork.
Hey you, get Mullally off of your tag! I mean right now dammit! ;-)
LOL! Are you kidding? Lattes are too basic for the entitlement crowd. The only way Starbucks can assuage these victims of “the man” is to supply them with free IcedFrappaMachiattoSoyDoubleShot-whatever.
Occupoopers
How passé.
Nothing says anarchy like a book fair.
The sands of time are rapidly running out for the decent people to flee the big cities. I understand that maybe all they will be able to leave with is their hat, ass, and life. But should they choose to stay, they will lose all three.
