If I had to look at those paintings all the time, I would drink heavily too. I know a lot of folks love his stuff, but it’s like fingers on a chalkboard to me.

I agree. This isn’t to speak ill of the man, I know nothing about him, but his work was repellent to me.

But, hey...that is what art is all about. If someone likes a piece of art, then it has value, at least to that person, and it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks.

Likewise. I grew up being educated in the fine arts. The first time I saw one of his paintings, it struck me as appealing to pop culture- pretty paintings, but certainly not art. It’s great people love it and it makes them happy, but please don’t call it “art.”
