Judge not lest ye be judged.
One of the most misused Scriptures. It is about hypocrisy. If you're an alcoholic you have no right to judge anothers drinking.
Let's look at the whole Scripture rather than take it out of context.
Matthew 7:1-5
1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye, when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brothers eye.
Do you know what Jesus was saying there? He was telling us not to judge someone if we are doing the same thing. Then in the rest of the passage he goes on to tell us howto judge. The NT is filled with admonitions to judge, to distinguish good from evil. Read Paul.
Luke 12:57: "Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right?"
1 John 4:1: "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
John 7:24:"Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
