Actually friend, they aren’t good intentions. The more people that are government supported, the more malleable they are. When your bread and butter comes from the government, you don’t vote against them. Same goes for education. If one can think for themselves, they are a danger to the government machine.

True, but that is how you sell it to the population as a whole.

Most people are good. Willing to hold out their hand to help someone who has fallen get back on their feet. You could no more turn your back on a starving child or friend than I could. It is both our blessing and our curse.

Government comes along and says “Well, if we all chip in, we can help people without shorting ourselves too much.” If the people who are helped are willing to go along - to accept a bit of help for a short time while they get back on their feet - yes, it works.

It is when people realize that they can get a free ride without effort that the system breaks down. And lets face it - most people are lazy, given the chance.
