Thanks for the ping, Gene Eric, although it was unnecessary because lowbridge, unlike many knuckleheads in this forum, knows how to use the editorial sidebar. Now I don't always scan the sidebars, so I appreciate the thought, Gene Eric. I'm not obsessive compulsive enough to scan all the sidebars. I just glance at them occassionaly.

My only minor quibbles are that the article should have had a barf alert and that this masthead editorial had been more correctly identified as a meathead editorial.

Meanwhile, microstamping would give a powerful tool to police —who regularly discover shell casings that traditional ballistic fingerprinting can’t trace.

Has traditional ballistic fingerprinting solved any crimes anywhere? IIRC, only NY and Maryland tried this boondoggle, and maybe a couple of crimes were solved for God knows how many millons.
