Conservative blogs savaged Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen for saying Ann Romney never worked a day in her life, writing that the comment wrongly suggested Romney had never faced any struggles in her life and saying that it revealed the lefts disdain for women who raise a family and dont work.
Yes, there is something old-fashioned about the belief that a homemaker couldnt understand the complexity of the economics affecting her household. Rosen apparently subscribes to the Linda Hirschman worldview, one that posits women are only as valuable as their contributions outside the home, unrelated to children and family. Rearing up the next generation that will someday run the world is woefully underappreciated, wrote Dana Loesch at Big Journalism.
Contrary to Rosens suggestion that a stay-at-home mom couldnt be in touch with the economic situations most women face, conservatives argued, Ann Romney was well-placed to understand their struggles.
A stay at home mom would typically deal with all the costs of running a household, such maintenance, clothes for the kids, supplies, and food costs. Even a rich mom like Ann would understand what happens with costs in the economy. Probably better than Rosen, argued William Teach at RightWingNews.
What made her even more empathetic, these bloggers argued, was that she had endured personal struggles.
What she didnt mention is that she also battled breast cancer and MS while raising her kids, wrote LonelyConservative.

even that thing from Florida has chucked Rosen under the bus...
Wasserman -Schultz : Disappointed in @hilaryr s comments. As a mother of 3 theres no doubt that raising children is work.
She’s fully under the obamabus.
Who is that protoplasamy Star Wars character? That’s who she looks like.
On the other hand, two well-establish conservative commentators defended Rosens comments, saying that they were misinterpreted.
Can't believe anyone takes Polit-crap serious.
This is a colossal face palm for the Democrats. Hey Rosen, do what other Democrats do when they screw up, double down and criticize Ann Romney ever harder!
now Mooch has weighed in, so the Dems must be regretting it.....
Mooch just tweeted : “Every mother works hard, and every woman deserves to be respected”. - Michelle Obama

Stupid Pubbies, don't you know that the luxury of staying at home to care for your children is only for welfare queens, not married women?
Who does the left think is doing the volunteer work in every community in America, especially the public schools? Idiots, what happened to “it takes a village”?
Every conservative WORK-AT-HOME mom should stop volunteering at every public school in America until Obama is out of office. Let the libs in the teachers union choke on it.
Did this already.
Plus: 2 calls from my usual Thursday foodbank service and donation, wondering if I’m ok & where I am.
“Sorry, just staying at home, not working a day in my life.”
And I feel bad about it...yet it’s TIME to make a statement.
I don’t think the Romney campaign is going to let the voters forget this no matter how much Obumbles tries to distance himself...
President Obama weighs in:
“If I had a white wife, she’d look just like Hilary Rosen—er—ahhh—who programmed this teleprompter?!”
hahaha brill, kudos to you.
I almost admire Hilary Rosen for her continued defiance when she’s clearly wrong. Well if she wants to dig her own grave, I’ll gladly make sure she has a good shovel.
So, basically, you cannot be a worker worried about spreading your husband's legacy and wealth unless you do not have a big company to work in... say, it ain't so.
I really despise liberals. No, Ann is a good mother and chosen so, whereas the liberal twats who have no such luxury like Fluke should look hard in the mirror about their slutiness before yearning for good husbandry.
She will be raised back once Romney is in.
This is a battle between two types of women, the liberal ones on the hypocrite plantation, and those who wisely enjoy credit and freedoms offered to them - or well defended places, period.
Mooch needs to “weigh in”:
The MSM never asked Michelle what she did as a $300K/year administrator at the Univ of Chicago Hospital. Ironically, she got the job after Barry was a state legislator, having never worked in healthcare before or since. I’d be curious to know how much tax money floated U of Chicago’s way while Obama was a legislator. And Michelle has never said anything about the healthcare debate. You’d think as a former senior administrator, she’d chime in, or Barry would bring it up. But I’ll bet it was a no show job.
The ultimate war on women/class envy punch would be if Barry could get the “never worked a day in my life and don’t know my babys’ Daddy’s names” welfare Moms, to go all class warfare on the “love my spouse and stayed at home to raise kids and run home because thankfully we only needed one wage earner in the home” stay at home Moms.
If Ann Romney did have a job, they’d be complaining that she was stealing a job from a single mom that really needed the money.
