I’m glad. When the gentleman from Dept of Geology and Minerals talked to us he basically said he was trying to get us good and scared so we can scare our friends and neighbors and be better prepared.
He said if the big one hits, areas may be cut off for a week or more (so be nice to your neighbors, as the cavalry is likely to be late). He talked about the likely staging for supplies being in Bend/Redmond for Oregon because closer to the coast, they won’t have undamaged facilities to stage from.
I think it is difficult for people to contemplate (me anyway) that something that hasn’t occurred in 312 years might happen at any time.
I’m in the insurance industry. We are more prepared and funded than Sumatra, but way less than Japan. It’s gonna be ugly when it happens.
They have tsunami evacuation route signs posted up here in some areas.
