Sitting as I am, less than 10 km from the center of Tokyo, I can assure you I agree. I might even admit to a small whimper.

Sumatra yesterday, this today, and there have been a number of stories about recently discovered faults near me.

Oh well, can’t spend all my time worrying about Obama. :-)

I just checked, using EARTHQUAKE 3D and the Mexico Quakes are almost directly opposite the Indonesian Quake. I.E. it’s where the waves from the Larger quake meet on the opposite side. IIRC, it’s typical to have such a result.

Brandon is about 80 miles west of me. It has some fault lines associated with a coastal subduction zone and has frequent earthquakes but usually 4.5 at upper end. One of these days . . .
