Turning Mitt Romney's own words against him, President Barack Obama's reelection campaign released a new video on Wednesday that paints the all-but-certain Republican nominee as a "severely conservative" politician who's uncaring about middle class economic suffering and who's determined to outlaw abortion. The 1'55" spot, entitled "Mitt Romney: Memories to Last a Lifetime," mines some of the former Massachusetts governor's best-known verbal missteps from the past year, teed up with the words: "As Republicans settle on a nominee…let's take a look at some of the unforgettable moments from this unforgettable primary." It seems geared to make it harder for Romney to pivot to the political center for the general election after weathering the drawn-out battle for the Republican nomination.

To leftists, they actually think Obama is a centrist, and therefore Mitt is conservative. For real! I can’t believe there are people out there that think this way but I meet them all the time!

Romney’s team has, sadly, shown a real flair for attack ads. This could get interesting, since Obummer is such a huge target for criticism (at risk of an understatement).
If Mittens responds with raw negativity, he would need to take a conservative slant and do so quickly. Could be fun.
But if Mittens decides to play nice, then we know we have a neo-Dem as the GOP nominee and Mittski is a goner. Of course, he doesn’t want to give up the game this early, so he’s GOT to attack back.

If Romney uses Dubya’s playbook, I'd expect him to play nice while Obama attacks him, until even the MSM starts asking why Romney won't defend himself.
Dubya used this technique in the run up to the Iraq war. The MSM said Dubya needed to get the American people on board, but Dubya said he had the authority to act as President to defend the nation. The MSM heads exploded and they got louder and louder until Dubya addressed the nation and explained the mission. Then the MSM said Dubya needs to get the Congress on board. Dubya said no I don't. I can act because of the anti-terror legislation passed after 9-11, and the MSM heads exploded and got louder until Dubya went to Congress and got approval to act in Iraq. Then the MSM said “You need to get the UN on board.” Dubya said no I don't I have Congress's approval and Iraq has not complied with 17 already passed UN resolution. The MSM heads exploded again and they got louder until Dubya went to the UN and got approval and a coalition of nations.
