This is the clearest example I've seen in years that "Evangelical Social Conservatives" are not really conservatives. They believe they are. And, they believe they're doing the right thing.

But they are not reliable conservatives nor reliable Republicans.

They will vote for anyone that sings their song. Many have no beef with the Democrat party except homo marriage and abortion. In fact, some democrats have been elected with overt Socon support when they take up these two positions.

The GOP should quit pandering to this constituency. Let them vote their conscience and move on.

If they endorse Romney, they don’t even have a problem with gay marraige.

And a lot of “pro-gun” Democrats have gotten “conservative” support too over the years, allowing them to be one more vote against gun rights.
