My political memory goes back at least to Eisenhower and since that time I can recall only one conservative president, Ronald Reagan, and yet despite all those Rinos the Republic has somehow survived.
But of all the Democrats during that time, none, not Jimmy Carter and not Lyndon Johnson, represented a threat to the survival of the country.

Romney is far more liberal than even George W. Bush. Other liberal Republicans (Nixon, Ford, Bush 41) did tremendous damage to the nation, far more than a lame-duck Democrat will do with a Republican congress.
