That didnt take long: Newt Gingrich has humbly asked Rick Santorum supporters to channel their support (read: money) to his campaign.
The Gingrich camp, deeply in debt after dismal performances in recent primary races, released a statement minutes after Mr. Santorums exit from the Republican primary this afternoon, saying, Rick has waged a remarkable campaign. His success is a testament to his tenacity and the power of conservative principles.
I humbly ask Senator Santorums supporters to visit Newt.org to review my conservative record and join us as we bring these values to Tampa, Mr. Gingrichs statement continued. The former House speakers website, like most candidates, puts its funding pitch front and center.

I hope he can pick them up, but I’m not hopeful. I hate to say it, but scratch a Santorum supporter, and more often than not you will find a big government supporter more comfortable with a pro-abortion, pro-gay Romney than with a pro-life, pro-traditional marriage Newt.
"Former Santorum for President staffer at the Podunk County HQ. Currently unemployed."
I've already had to do that four times this season. It's getting to be exhausting.
What, did he reject your application or something?
At this point, both he and Santorum are trying to retire their debt. But only Newt is trying to convince Santorum supporters to send their money to Newt under the guise that his campaign is still active.

Newt’s campaingn consist of making phone calls to “super delegates” and raising money to retire his debt. Trying to pull money from Santorum supporters by creating the impression that he is still in the race is dishonest. Of course, it is Newt we’re talking about, so it’s not exactly a shocker.
Hope the debate stays on in Texas. Will be great to see Newt with just Romney and Paul. Go Newt. There’s hope after all.
Newt won’t even have enough primary wins to qualify for the nomination at a brokered convention. Talk about delusional. Newt was out of the race after Super Tuesday. Check the news.
Yes. Rick said I wasn't supportive enough of big government to be a good fit for his campaign.
Newt’s campaign has been over for a long time. Now he is trying to trick Santorum supporters by suggesting that he is still actively campaigning, when in reality he is only raising money to pay down his campaign debt, same as Santorum at this point.
Newt is the last conservative standing.
You want Mitt? You are going to get him, unless we get Newt to Tampa.
Only half the primary races have been held. At least Newt still fought when he was polling Ron Paul numbers.
Now that Santorum is out, here is the new political reality:
It’s Newt or Romney.
Which are you fighting for?
I’m sorry to see Santorum leave, but now Newt is my guy and Santorum should endorse him and do whatever he can to support Newt.
Catholic “social justice” played a role in Rick’s supporters. Social justice is socialism - it came out like gang busters for Obammycare. Now that Obama uses that power to come out against Catholics, they support a “social conservative” to run their “social justice” system.
People are pretty easy to trick.
“Heated campaign” Both Santorum and Newt are now out of the campaign. Newt is just trying to convince the gullable that his campaign is still active when the truth is he is simply raising money to retire his campaign debt.
If Newt were to be honest for a change, he would have at least said, “Now that Rick and I are both out, send me your money to pay off my debt”
Fine, go vote for Obama.
We should cut each other some slack. None of us are going to get our first, second or third choice.
If you think Gingrich is still running you’re delusional. His campaign is limited to calling delegates and begging them to switch their votes. Both he and Santorum are technically still in the race, since neither have “ended their campaigns” But at least Santorum isn’t trying to convince people to send him money under the guise that he is still “in it to win it.”
You’re full of crapola.
I’m sorry to hear that. No wonder you’re so bitter!
At least the Newt campaign took you.
