The pressure on this woman has got to be incredible, but if she does her job, she will decline to prosecute.

She needs more time to meet with the Grifter Brothers (Holder, Sharpton and Jackson).

Zimmerman is toast.

Interesting.

This may be because she thinks the evidence points to the local prosecutor making the right decision.

Or it may be because she’s afraid the grand jury would agree with the local prosecutor and the state will file charges itself for political reasons.

Personally, I think the law should be changed so all such deaths should be presented to a grand jury which will make the decision whether charges are justified or not. This will to some extent take politics out of the decision. Such decisions are much to important to be left to the judgment of individual prosecutors.

A special appointee knows she could get an indictment of a ham sandwich from the grand jury and declines. Smells like there is no there there.

I got this from AP:
The announcement means the decision on charges now rests solely with Corey, who had a reputation for not presenting cases before grand juries if it wasn't required. Under Florida law, only first-degree murder cases require the use of grand juries.

They are trying to string this out as long as possible in the hope that the initial politics will be diluted.

Zimmerman won’t be charged with anything.
It was self defense.

I hate to think it, but IMO this woman is just clearing the way to bring charges herself. I’d love to be wrong, but I highly doubt it.

(BTW I wouldn’t be surprised if zimmerman is made to come out of hiding if he is not assassinated)

Earlier Monday, lawyers for the neighborhood watchman said that if Zimmerman is not charged, he would speak out. Zimmerman has not spoken to the media since the shooting.

IF she does decline to press charges it will have been IMO one of the most publically courageous, perhaps THE MOST publically courageous act I have ever seen*

*(and of course, alas, this is why I am not expecting it)

apparently Angela Corey is a republican, however as we all know on the era of cowardly, appeasing, RINOs that may not mean much.

I believe if she decides to charge him, there would then be a preliminary hearing to see if there is enough evidence to go to trial.

So she could still have cover if the preliminary hearing shows that there’s no reason to try him.

heard on news- can;t remember what channel, they expect zimmerman will ‘turn himself in’? Turn himself in FOR WHAt? Anyone else hear that there have been new witnesses that are now saying zimmerman was the aggressor? Seems funny they would be coming out now, but the two witnesses that immediately testified abotu zimmerman said he was innocent and backed up his accoutns?

Only one *possible* explanation....the prosecutor desperately wants to convict Zimmerman and she fears that a grand jury won’t indict.A ten year old can figure it out.

Reading between the lines it appears that the prosecutorial authorities in Florida are between a rock and a hard place. The evidence reported to date clearly leads to the conclusion that Zimmermann's shooting of "Trayvon" was legally sanctioned.

Yet the blacks must be satisfied and a Grand Jury refusal to indict Zimmermann would be a Public Relations disaster along with black riots. It might be noted here that Seminole County Florida is only 9.5% black thus the odds are any Grand Jury would be white and not too sympathetic to "Trayvon's" being the assailant.

Zimmerman must be convicted. His conviction would prevent riots and make for happy blacks. How does one get a conviction in a white county of a man that was legally justified in shooting the "Trayvon?" That is the prosecution's problem. It will be interesting to see how they will manage Zimmerman's conviction.

This may be an indication of good news. Juries tend to be swayed by Oprah Winfrey and Nancy Grace and vote accordingly. They are not to be trusted. Of course, the judicial system is corrupt with many political appointees. The only hope is that there will be a prosecutor who is fair and not file charges.

Like others who follow what’s going on in the Martin killing, I am captivated by all the “speculation” of what happened, what may have happened and what should have happened. I don’t honestly believe that Mr. Zimmerman was intent on harming anyone that morning. Regardless of the outcome, Sharpton, Jackson. Obama and the legions of pathetic race baiters could channel their hate somewhere else. I’m always amazed when these self proclaimed “reverends” spew the most stupidity and hate. The Great Oz has spoken.

I may be mistaken, but I think this is bad news for George Zimmerman.

From a political standpoint, or a 'peoples' will' standpoint, Angela Corey would have been best served to leave this matter to the Grand Jury. Whether the GJ indicted or chose to no-bill Zimmerman, she could say that the matter had been handled by the GJ and not her; that it was the decision made by people of Florida selected to serve on a Grand Jury after hearing evidence presented to them. So it seems as if she's not covering her political rear end.

Now she's personally responsible for the decision - any blowback or praise. Not charging Zimmerman is a gutsy thing and perhaps political suicide, if she ever plans to run for higher office. However, she can charge Zimmerman in accordance with (warped) public sentiment and that's what I suspect she'll do. My best guess is she'll charge Zimmerman and Zimmerman's defense will have to let the jury decide whether Florida's Stand Your Ground Law and the provisions of Florida Statutes 776.012 and 776.041 apply. There will be conflicting witness testimony, based on what we've heard.

She may also charge Zimmerman with some lesser offenses for which the Stand Your Ground law is not a defense - such as civil rights-type claims (I haven't done research on Florida's version of laws on depriving an individual of civil rights).
