Though Gingrich and Romney throughout January engaged in some of the most personal attacks of the presidential primary campaign, Gingrich said Sunday that the two are at peace with one another.
"I hit him as hard as I could, he hit me as hard as he could -- turned out he had more things to hit with than I did," Gingrich said. "That's part of the business."
Gingrich said that if Romney wins 1,144 delegates and clinches the nomination, he will do "everything I can" to support him going into November.
"We are absolutely committed to defeating Barack Obama," he said. "I will work as hard for (Romney) as I would for myself."
He said he's already spoken with RNC Chairman Reince Priebus about how he can help going into November. "Beyond that ... I'll go back to a post-political career," Gingrich said.
Still, he said supporters are urging him to stay in.
"I do think there's a desire for a more idea-oriented Republican Party," Gingrich said.
Gingrich said he's seeing a "great response" in the upcoming primaries for Delaware and North Carolina, and will "see what happens" in those two states. Despite his comments Sunday, the candidate had recently told The Washington Post that "nothing" could get him out of the race quite yet.
Gingrich said he wants to campaign for changes in the party platform -- namely, to push for domestic energy production, to "stand up very firmly for religious liberty" and to reform the Social Security system.
Romney is leading the field with 660 delegates, according to the Associated Press tally. Rick Santorum is trailing with 281, followed by Gingrich with 135 and Ron Paul with 51.

The latest instability and infighting in the GOP has helped Obama a great deal in the polls, but after the economy suffers, gas prices go over $5, food prices double, jobs start to fail, etc, that small lead that Obama has, will easily dissolve over night.
So, I remain positive that we can beat Obama and I certainly don't think it is smart to project such a negative outcome, based on nothing but rhetoric. I go on realistic results myself.

Your statement ignorantly assumed that Romney is “better” than Obama. He’s not. They are practically the same, across the board. I see no reason to vote for the one just because he has an “R” after his name. Same junk, different face of the mono-party.
Vote conservative, even if it means voting third party.
The truth is that many on the hard right do desire the destruction of our nation, just as many on the hard left do. They just want it for different reasons.
If this cycle has taught us anything it is to remind us that the one sure fire way to clear a path for an establishment moderate is to encourage a scripture quoting social conservative (no need to be a small government conservative) to enter the race and stay in until the RINO wins. There is this persistent block of voters that will waste time and energy on silly candidates like Robertson, Huckabee and Santorum - candidates that have exactly zero chance to win a national general election, but can do well enough among the part of the GOP base that is made up of social conservatives to splinter the grass roots/activists and allow a clear path for the mushy moderate candidate.
If I were someone like Chris Christie or Jeb Bush, I'd be planning right now on which clearly unelectable general election social conservative to encourage to get in the GOP primaries for 2016 or 2020. Maybe pull Pat Robertson out of the 700 club studio? That is, if he isn't too busy explaining why the recent outbreak of tornado's is because people didn't pray enough. Believe it or not, Robertson actually did win some caucuses and over a million votes during his primary run in 1988. Oh sure, he could never win a general election, but he can split the grass roots and clear a path for the next establishment moderate in the next election cycle.

Santorum’s polling just as well vs. Obama as Romney, and he’s doing better among women.
I would question the reality of that statement. Most of Santorum's supporters, so far as I've seen, are actually big-government "conservatives" who just want the big government to do the things *they* want it to do, instead of what the Left wants it to do.
That kind of person is not "very conservative," no matter how they may self-identify in a poll.

I’d rather Santorum be the candidate although honestly, I think Santorum has the potential for being portrayed as a looney tunes and he’s done nothing to help dispel that image of him.
I just agreed with Newt that it looks like Romney and that I will support him wholeheartedly against Obama.

Do you have any evidence behind your statement? Given a choice of concrete evidence (exit polls), and your anecdotal evidence, I have to side with the concrete evidence.
And so far the concrete evidence is telling me that Santorum is the strongest conservative by quite a wide margin.
What do you see as the constitutional obligations of the federal government? Do you believe that the federal government should treat the unborn the same way as everyone else?
These people are not really Fringe right or left. They are all Populists and simply do no know it yet. The Ron Paul crowd is a strong collection of them. They all hate establishment, highly organized Politics, etc, etc, and they mostly just want to be left alone and not be told how to live or behave.
They all have a common trait on both sides, they have little to no respect for much of anything, other than their own personal outlook.

Look, Romney’s not won yet, and if you want Santorum to have any chance at the nomination, we need to keep fighting. Your choice, remained consigned to supporting Romney or keep fighting on.
I like your tagline, but I think there is one more choice:
“You can be a Conservative who is forced once again to hold your nose and vote Republican to prevent Obama from getting four more years to finish completely destroying this great nation.”

Christie, Bush and Daniels should also do everything they can to guarantee that Iowa maintains its status as the first in the nation caucus. That way the evangelicals and homeschoolers can prop up another candidate like Huckabee and Robertson.

Supports whichever side will get him the most votes.
Passed bills permitting gay marriage in MA.

I don’t know so much about that. If gas gets to 5.00 per gallon...... Also, RINO-Rom has 6 million Mormon foot soldiers ready to mobilize for the fall campaign. He has a lot of money. The Mormon Church has a whole sh** load of money and the rich business men giving to Super Pacs to defeat Obama have tons of money. Plus the fact that RINO-Rom has been running for this office for 6 years now, and he wants this bad enough to stoop to doing anything to get it. His Primary antics proved that. I’ve got a feeling Obozo will have his hands full and if there is any “real” dirt, substantiated dirt, to be found on Obama, the Mormon Church will find it.
Don’t count RINO-Rom out of this thing.
