Breaking on Fox
...has died...and?
..and another commie lib journo bites the dust.
My God...for a minute there I was about to say "bravo,Mr Jennings".But,thankfully,I can now be assured that they're *both* rotting in hell.
Did you know that Richard C. Hottelet is still alive? He’s the last of ‘Murrow’s Boys’; Journalists mentored by Murrow.
My mother taught me if that if can’t say something nice about someone, don’t say anything at all. Well...........................
“We are better then that”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I’m not.
FR used to be a lot of things. We used to be thoroughly decent, even to those who were not decent to us, on these kinds of threads. That was because of a shared sense of humanity. Whenever a DUmmie would start in with attacking FR, one could do a side-by-side of these kinds of threads and show the difference. Now, I’m not so sure.
I’ll say this about Mike Wallace...we were a better country with him than if we’d been without him.
I’ve read some biographical material on Murrow and he would probably be some sort of outcast if he landed in journalism today.
I mean that because Murrow’s trademark was a cigarette in his hand. Verboten.
And Murrow was into hunting and fishing. Edward R. Murrow killed animals and ate meat.
PETA would be picketing him if he were around today.
Hottelet was a reporter for United Press in Berlin who was jailed by the Gestapo, then sent back to the United States.
He worked for CBS after the US got into the war.
Howard K. Smith, one of the other Murrow men, who was a socialist and Keynesian described Hottelet as “conservative.”
Well I used to think so. It’s one thing to disagree with a person’s philosophy and even criticize their actions, but it’s smarmy, shallow and petty to do so on a funeral thread.
Many libs would disagree with posters on this forum, but would those FReepers want liberals trashing them on a funeral thread that their OWN FAMILY would read? Talk about hypocrites.
A poor representation for FR, at least on this thread.

instead of discussing Wallace...I’ll use to opportunity to honor one of our fallen soldiers (who will barely make a blip on the news). RIP Corporal Martinez.
Agree.

After Ajax went mad and had killed his own fellow warriors, the Greeks came to sneer at dead his body. King Agamemnon refused to bury him. But Odysseus reminded them all that, although Ajax had been his enemy in life, he would honor him in death.
Agamemnon
You, Odysseusdo you champion him against me in this battle?
Odysseus
I do, though I did hate him, when it was honorable for me to hate.
. . .
Agamemnon
Then do you truly urge me to allow the burying of the dead?
Odysseus
[1365] Yes, for I too shall come to that necessity. . . .
That last line is the humanity seen by Odysseus in the play Ajax, by Sophocles 5 c. BC.
Not hatred from me, but he is recognized as the enemy of free people. The enemy won’t be missed.
Mike Wallace died, huh?
Ummmmm.. oh.
Written like a true GOPe. You see where all this nicey nice has gotten us. I’m not saying to be like the DUmmies, but we can say the same thing with class.
I’m with you. I think what always made conservatives better than liberals was that we wouldn’t lower ourselves to the depths of depravity that liberals will. We’re better than they are and that comes with the ability to forgive even where it isn’t to be expected. That’s what makes us better people.
