Derbyshire doesn't do the really obvious racist stuff -- the stuff that goes up at FreeRepublic.com, for example -- like post photos Obama in stereotypical tribal garb with a bone through his nose.

A divided country is more easily defeated from within. The left knows that.
I can’t stand in agreement with the statements regarding black people but if you change out the word for homosexual, I might be more inclined to hold to that view. There are a couple exceptions (like Good Samaritan which apply to all people including the crook who’s going to stick a shank in your gut).
But as to people of any ethnicity, no issues.
The Lavender Mafia is another story.
How many new recruits into roller derby go lesbian after a drunken binge with their man hating pals?
The whole thing. If this were written by Louis Farrakhan and the races were reversed, would you be a-okay with a column telling blacks to not act as the Good Samaritan to whites?
“Blacking off” in school is a significant reason for black IQ test performance. Just my supposition, but ...
They claim a moral stance on skin color and sexual identity, but they will savage anyone who opposes them and get in the gutter with their attacks.
Absolutely. Double standards are their stock in trade.
We know all about the false stories regarding Zimmerman and the Gates case a couple of years ago. But this column is just indefensible and uncalled for. NR made a proper choice in letting him go.
No one seems to care least of all blacks..... That Obama Hussein has zero slave blood in his veins, that he is a cheap Kenyan import. But the race-outrage industry charade must go on because some people love to emote this is all they know
I disagree. Anyone that has been reading about the violence since Obama took office has to acknowledge what’s happening. It’s foolish to ignore it. And dangerous.
(shrug) A couple of Derbyshire’s suggestions seem a little paranoid to me:
(10a) Avoid concentrations of blacks not all known to you personally.
(10b) Stay out of heavily black neighborhoods.
Those decisions should be made on a case by case basis rather than blanket “no-nos”.
But most of what Derbyshire writes makes perfect sense. I am not the slightest bit surprised that the cowardly NR and NRO have turned tail and run like scared little bunny rabbits from the Democrat “mainstream” newsrooms.
Those two things are at the top of the list for me. I read about the violence near me and in the city that I grew up in and even young black people aren’t safe in their own neighborhoods. Innocent kids are being shot for fun. And beaten. 12 year old kids are being robbed going to the store for Mom. You must live in a very safe place.
I’ve known many black people throughout my life. I’ve found them to be intelligent, funny, some of them have been Christian (I’ve gone to some of their churches, which was enjoyable- Jeremiah Wright doesn’t preach at every black church in the country). Blacks are just as varied as whites. This article is a gross smear.
Goodnight.
Ya know...I just went over and read the whole piece, and I have to say that I agree with Derbyshire 1000%.
It cost him a writing gig, but he speaks the gospel truth. I don’t give a flyin’ fiddler’s damn how politically incorrect it is to say it, either.
Too many in this country prefer self-delusion. Sad.
Sure, I always have a cute little Seecamp 32 in my pocket, and I always make my appointments before noon, but that's just common sense. I only have to get in and out, while the good people in those neighborhoods have to put up with the knuckleheads 24/7. Imagine what that must be like. There are a couple of places I simply don't go into, but those are really bottom of the barrel anarchy-type neighborhoods. That's what I mean by "case by case". It's not necessary to automatically generalize that white people should always stay out of black neighborhoods.
I’m talking about Derbyshire’s column.
Doesn't Derbyshire's article at least deserve a serious line by line critique? "THAT'S RAAAACIST!" is not a serious critique. Much of what he says is inarguably if uncomfortably true. I disagree with some of his points, and I certainly would not have written that article if I had a couple of kids to support. Still, I think the article is sufficiently reasonable that it should provoke conversation, not end it.
I applaud Derbyshire for his willingness to spotlight black racism and its consequences. I am fed up with minority anti-white bigotry and feminist anti-male bigotry being taboo topics. Put this stuff on the table, shine a light on it.
I'm sorry that NR fired him without at least giving him a chance to defend himself in print.
Andrew Sullivan must be giggling himself sick.
As for the author's assertion that FreeRepublic is racist, and that this is proved by one hotlinked photoshop of Obama with a bone in his nose, perhaps she should try actually reading some race-related FR threads. After my years here I have concluded that some Freepers are thugs, some are stupid, some are insane, most are none of those things, and very few are racist. Then again, I suppose I am using an archaic definition of "racist." My version actually means something.
