Thompson for President press release
Romney Opposed The 2003 Bush Tax Cuts
In 2003, the Governor refused to endorse the Bush tax cuts,
earning the praise of Massachusetts liberal congressman Barney Frank.

Romney Said He Wont Be A Cheerleader For Tax Cut Proposals He Disagrees With. According to the observer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Romney told the delegation that he wont be a cheerleader for proposals he doesnt agree with, but I have to keep a solid relationship with the White House. Romneys Position Pleased Liberal Barney Frank. I was very pleased, Frank said afterward. Here you have a freshman governor refusing to endorse a tax cut presented by a Republican president at the height of his wartime popularity. Can we have the full quote please? The "disagree" part is not in quotes for some strange reason making me think he said something different.
Not that I like Romney, but we had a "quote" from him yesterday on the Augusta Golf Club that turned out to be twisted around by the MSM which communicated something different than Romney was actually saying.
Again, do you have the full quote?
Is there a reason Romney stories are posted here? It is pretty clear how he is thought of here. Just seems like a complete waste of bandwidth.
While I do not like Romney or never will, I feel sorry for him.
As soon as the MSM gives him the nomination, they will spend the remainder of the campaign attacking his mormon faith.
We all know it is going to happen, the elephant is in the room and everyone is pretending it isn’t there.
What’s amazing to me is how hard some will work to defeat Romney, while ignoring Obama completely. Its like we’ve got this cancer taking hold of our country, and they’re worried about a little dandruff.
I don’t feel sorry for Romney, I feel sorry for all the Americans who will suffer because of his nomination.
I don’t feel sorry for Romney, I feel sorry for all the Americans who will suffer because of his nomination.
It’s not really a quote from Romney. It’s a quote from an anonymous source who claimed that Romney said this during a private, unrecorded meeting.
Look at his profile page and past post. He used FR to barrage us with anti-McCain./Palin post right up to the 2008 election. And because Romney is not popular here, he feels he has complete impunity to do it again. Post after post after post.
I figured as much, and not a complete quote at that.
I saw there was something fishy when I saw that the original poster couldn't come up with the quote.
I don't like Romney, but these MSM-type tactics are getting old.
Romney has enough warts without us resorting to Politico-style “anonymous source” crap. It makes us look bad.
We know what Romney's faults are. No need to lie to make up more.
I haven't seen a story yet that quotes him as bashing the Bush tax cuts. He may not have verbally endorsed them, but he didn't bash them as far as I know.
And his position now is that he will extend them. I mean, even Obama went against his campaign promises and extended the Bush tax cuts so I highly doubt that Romney won't.
Nope, not a Romney supporter. Pretty much all of the Repub candidates are terrible.
No, I'm series... Are they any Romney supporters here at Free Republic? I don't think I've seen any. So, again, my main point is why waste time on someone we all agree sucks?
OCD?
You feel sorry for Romney? How can you feel sorry for someone who has divided the Republican party and extinguished voter enthusiasm with his scorched-early primary campaign?
I hope the MSM ruins Romney’s career. He deserves it for his despicable actions.
*Scorched-EARTH, not scorched early, although Romney did start carpet-bombing his opponents quite quickly.
