My son’s graduate advisor at University of Washington moved his whole class (those who wanted to go) to the University of Florida in the 1990s to establish a beefed up department of materials science engineering. Part of the deal was that UF gave full credit for all of the classes that the students had already taken.

Chess is a notoriously competitive sport. The players will go to any length to win.
I once played in a tournament where one of the competitors got his girlfriend to sit next to him wearing an extremely revealing sun dress. By extremely revealing, I mean that she had no bra on and the dress was REALLY low cut.
She also was hotter than a firecracker.
Distracting to say the least.

Hard to say. At the least it is unusual. I thought there was a rule that if a team member transfers, he/she has to sit out one year.

"It was a very easy decision," said Georg Meier, a freshman from Trier, Germany. "When the program decided to move to St. Louis, I didn't have to think twice." Well, if you had a chance to get out of Lubbock, that would be an easy decision.
