Hi, Moose.
We're all right. Our tiniest kitty, Shadow, has congenital gum disease that is causing her to lose her teeth. She had a teeth-cleaning session yesterday and had one of her last two fangs removed, along with another one of her teeth.
We are pleased that she only lost two this time, but she is destined to be one of the younger cats who lose all their teeth to the disease. It is not contagious, so the other three are not in danger.
She was a bit disoriented and in pain yesterday, but we do have antibiotics and pain meds for her for the next three days. She should be all right by then, poor little sweetheart.
The vet told us that about 1/3 of cats have it, but they usually lose their teeth when they're much older. She is only about 4 years old. As near as we could figure it, she was born sometime in December '07.
